Airswift's annual campaign for cancer awareness and fundraising
The Relay For Life movement is the world's largest fundraising event to save lives from cancer. Communities and individuals across the globe unite in the fight against cancer as they form teams and raise critical funds. Cancer is an illness that knows no boundaries and affects so many of us on a personal level.
Airswift is passionate about this cause and our goal is to promote cancer research and education and raise funds for various cancer societies around the world.
Each year our offices come together for a global virtual Relay For Life to raise funds and awareness for cancer care. Divided into regional teams, each office location hosts a variety of events to bring awareness and raise funds to support a local cancer society and organisation.
We hope to make a positive impact on people's lives. You can join the movement by following our progress each year.
With the current health situation we are all facing, this year will require more creativity, but we are certain we can make an imapct. We have brought back our #IHopeFor campaign, asking "What do you hope for?" Between July and October, Airswift teams around the world will plan socially distanced or virtual events to raise funds and awareness through physical activity. Our team goal is to raise $40,000 USD.

Relay For Life (RFL) is a global movement founded in May 1985 after Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours raising money for the American Cancer Society. Since then, it has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising $5 billion to fight cancer. Close to 4 million participants take part in RFL across the globe annually, making it one of the world's largest fundraisers.
Cancer causes about 1 in every 6 deaths worldwide, more than AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined. It is the second-leading cause of death worldwide, following cardiovascular diseases. By 2035, the global burden is expected to reach 24 million new cancer cases and 14.6 million cancer deaths solely due to the growth and aging of the population.
However, 1 in 3 cancer deaths could be avoided through prevention, early detection and innovative treatments. 50% of the most common cancers can be prevented without medical intervention through exercise, proper eating and sleeping habits, vaccination and sun protection.
In addition to promoting wellness, working together and making a global impact on cancer research and education, through Relay For Life we celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost, and allows us to fight back against cancer.
"We are thankful to Airswift for putting their hand up to join the fight against cancer in PNG. It will help more Papua New Guineans receive awareness on the importance of early screening and detection through our education and awareness programs."
