3D Model and Layout Specialist (Open to Expat)
Role Overview
The 3D Model and Layout Specialist is responsible for all 3D model and plant layout activities for the ABSHERON EPSCC Project Onshore Central Process Facility (CPF), ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, fit-for-purpose digital model that supports safe, efficient, and compliant engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and operations. The role manages contractor performance, drives multidisciplinary coordination, and ensures alignment with TotalEnergies standards, project requirements, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
3D Model Leadership & Technical Assurance
- Ensure delivery, maintenance, and governance of a robust and accurate 3D model in compliance with the Basis of Design, project specifications, schedules, HSE requirements, and applicable standards.
- Define and enforce 3D model development procedures, milestones, and quality requirements, including 30%, 60%, and 90% model maturity reviews.
- Ensure model tagging, metadata consistency, and integration with engineering databases and project information systems.
HSE, Operability & Constructability
- Promote a strong HSE culture and ensure all model solutions reflect safe-by-design principles.
- Verify that the model adequately addresses operability, maintainability, access and egress, mechanical handling requirements, lifting studies, firewater coverage, and emergency escape provisions
Project Execution & Coordination
- Coordinate multidisciplinary model development and manage interfaces between engineering disciplines, contractors, vendors, construction, and commissioning teams.
- Identify technical risks, constructability challenges, scope changes, and optimization opportunities, proposing effective mitigation and improvement measures.
Construction, Commissioning & Site Support
- Provide technical support during fabrication, construction, installation, hook-up, commissioning, and start-up phases.
- Review shop drawings, installation methodologies, work packs, red-line markups, modification requests, and non-conformities.
- Participate in site inspections and walkdowns to verify installation compliance with approved layouts and model requirements.
Stakeholder & Team Management
- Coordinate contractor activities and ensure timely resolution of technical queries, clarification requests, and deviation proposals.
- Manage workload and priorities within the 3D model team, ensuring adequate competency and resource coverage.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in Oil & Gas projects.
- 5+ years in a similar leadership or specialist role with managerial responsibilities.
- Degree/Diploma in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Fluent in English (mandatory).
- Strong experience in:
- Detailed engineering execution and project scheduling.
- 3D model administration and operation.
- 3D model review planning, facilitation, and execution.
