Job Overview:

This opportunity is based in Anchorage and will support a headquarters accounting team within a company operating in the energy, process and infrastructure environment. The role focuses on maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting financial close and reporting, and resolving accounting discrepancies while working in line with GAAP. This position will also contribute to account reconciliations, financial analysis, audit support, and project-related accounting activities where assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a directly related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum three years of directly related accounting experience
  • Experience supporting month-end and year-end close activities and preparing financial information
  • Experience reconciling general ledger and balance sheet accounts, investigating discrepancies, and documenting corrections
  • Experience supporting financial reporting, account analysis, and variance explanations
  • Experience maintaining documentation and providing transaction support for audit requests

Required Skills:

  • Current understanding of GAAP policies and procedures
  • Ability to prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules for assigned accounts
  • Ability to review accounting transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company procedures
  • Strong Excel and reconciliation skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Clear communication and the ability to coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting queries and obtain supporting records
  • Ability to identify practical improvements to accounting workflows and internal controls

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Deltek Costpoint
  • Experience in project-based accounting
  • Experience in an engineering environment
