Activities
Ensure effective implementation of the HSE policy and the Lifting Management System for lifting and handling activities.
Act as Approval Person for Lifting Operations and represent the Managing Director / General Manager in lifting matters.
Ensure compliance with Company lifting and handling requirements, applicable legislation, regulations and technical standards.
Be competent to plan lifting operations and to technically review / validate lifting plans according to the applicable lifting category and Company requirements.
Review Category 2/3 lift plans, when requested by the Permit to Work Approving Authority, and monitor Category 1, 2 and 3 lifting operations.
Technically validate lift plans for the most complex Category 3 lifting operations, as defined in the categorization checklist.
Ensure preparation of the required lifting dossier for complex operations, including the required validation by a competent Level 4 person (Client’s CPLO) where applicable.
Review third-party lifting procedures and, where required, develop or review overload test procedures.
Attend, or ensure representation by a competent person, during the most complex Category 3 lifting operations at their place of execution.
Provide technical advice on lifting and handling operations to management, project managers and other functions upon request.
Act as affiliate focal point and advisor for lifting and handling matters and represent the affiliate in relevant industry committees and specialist forums.
Ensure appropriate competence and training of personnel involved in lifting operations.
Support the selection, technical qualification and performance evaluation of contractors providing lifting services.
Provide technical support for the procurement, inspection, certification and use of lifting equipment and accessories.
Participate in lifting-related incident investigations, audits and reviews and ensure lessons learned are shared.
- Monitor and report lifting performance, issues, incidents, plans and other relevant lifting KPIs
HSE Responsibilities
Adopt and demonstrate exemplary behaviour about HSEQ rules & requirements, as well as Company Ethics & “Code of Conduct” policy.
Promote HSE culture within the team and ensure HSE related topics are treated as top priorities in the discipline (Derogation, HAZOP, HAZID, HSE action plan, PRs actions, etc.)
Authority to suspend activities when there is a potential or actual threat to human life, the installation or the environment, and notify forthwith the responsible supervisor
Qualifications/Experience required
Level / Diploma: Master of Science in Engineering.
Core rigging and lifting qualifications as a strong advantage:
OPITO Approved Rigging & Lifting – Level 3-4 (Mandatory for CPLO roles)
OPITO Approved Banksman Slinger – Level 3-4
ECITB Rigger ICE – Level 3 & Level 4
Rigging Engineering – Level 2.
Site Lifting & Construction Supervisor status.
Responsible Person for Lifting Operations (RPO) / Appointed Person credentials.
ECITB IHSP – Advanced & Supervisor Levels.
BOSIET (OPITO) – Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader & Helideck Certified in Accident/Incident Investigation & Risk Mitigation.
Professional Experience: 10+ years in lifting and handling operations / APLO-related responsibilities.
Experience in the Oil and Gas industry is an advantage.
Strong presentation skills are an advantage.
Understanding of drilling operations is an advantage.
