Job Title: Civils/Piling Construction Manager
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Padeswood, North Wales, UK
This opportunity offers the chance to support a major onshore construction project within the energy transition sector, overseeing early works delivery to meet project standards, technical specifications, and schedule requirements. The role sits within a construction environment focused on civils, piling, HSSE, quality assurance, and contractor oversight. This position will play a key part in driving safe execution, construction compliance, and successful project delivery through to handover.
Required Education:
- Minimum HNC in an engineering-related subject or a trade apprenticeship with appropriate technical qualification
Required Experience:
- Management experience in the engineering construction industry
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role or a senior position in construction management
- Extensive knowledge of the construction process, including implementation and management
- Experience reviewing contractor progress, construction processes, and technical compliance against drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
- Experience supporting large onshore construction activities and delivery against project schedule requirements
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of construction HSE requirements, including permits to work, CDM regulations, method statements, COSHH requirements, and construction safety planning
- Ability to ensure safe, efficient, and structured delivery of construction activities in line with project schedule
- Knowledge of management of change compliance and execution risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle
- Ability to review quality assurance plans, inspection plans, inspection monitoring, and hold points
- Capability to identify deficiencies, initiate non-conformance reports, and support close-out activities
- Understanding of commercial terms on EPCM projects and ability to negotiate contractual matters with attention to detail
- Analytical and logical problem-solving skills
- Ability to assess working conditions, recognise engineering hazards and risks, and understand environmental responsibilities
- Working knowledge of the operation and application of appropriate physical plant and equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders verbally and in writing
- Methodical approach to work with consistent output and a high level of accuracy
- Ability to work independently and deliver training within the construction team
- Fully conversant with project management systems and construction practices and procedures
Required Certifications:
- ECITB temporary works training or equivalent
- CSCS Gold Card or higher
- Current SMSTS certificate
- Site Safety Medical
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication, networking, collaboration, and team-working capability, particularly within multi-discipline and multi-cultural teams
- Full knowledge of project-specific execution strategies and the ability to develop them to meet challenging project objectives and deliverables
- Incident-free mindset with the ability to act as a role model for the project team
- Proven HSSE leadership in managing and delivering large complex onshore projects
- Strong understanding of how project scope elements integrate and interface from construction through commissioning and handover to operations
- Ability to work across sub-teams to resolve issues and support decisions in the best interests of the integrated project team
