Job Title: Commercial Data & AI Lead
Duration: 1 year initially
Workload: Monday to Friday
Setup: Hybrid, 1–2 days per week in the office
An exciting opportunity is available with a major player in the energy sector for a Commercial Data & AI Lead to work at the intersection of energy markets, advanced analytics and artificial intelligence. This position will focus on shaping a commercial data ecosystem, developing machine learning solutions and supporting AI-enabled business processes within a collaborative international environment. The role offers strong exposure to data strategy, Azure-based analytics and commercial performance insight in a high-impact setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Platform & Analytics:
- Own and continuously develop the company’s commercial data warehouse and analytics ecosystem.
- Drive the development of dashboards, reports and decision-support tools using Power BI and Azure technologies.
- Translate business challenges into scalable data solutions that deliver measurable value.
- Coordinate development activity across business teams and technology partners.
- Deliver commercial insights, performance analysis and executive reporting to senior stakeholders.
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning:
- Act as Product Owner for an Azure-based business analytics and AI platform.
- Define and deliver the roadmap for new AI capabilities, advanced analytics solutions and intelligent automation opportunities.
- Own and enhance machine learning auction prediction models to improve forecasting accuracy and commercial decision-making.
- Identify, assess and implement innovative AI use cases to optimise business processes and create business value.
- Collaborate with internal specialists, external partners and academic institutions to bring advanced analytics and AI solutions into production.
Data Strategy & Governance:
- Lead the data operating plan and support the long-term data and AI strategy.
- Establish governance, ownership and documentation across the data landscape.
- Champion data quality, reliability and continuous improvement across business processes.
- Support compliance with data governance, security, access management and audit requirements.
- Support the evolution of the Azure data platform, including architecture, security, monitoring and integration capabilities.
Required Experience:
- Proven experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning or a related field.
- Experience gained within energy markets, utilities, financial services or another data-intensive environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to connect business strategy, commercial objectives and technical delivery to maximise value from data and AI.
- Experience working across departments and with multiple stakeholders in a collaborative setting.
Technical Skills & Tools:
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality management, data security and access management principles.
- Practical experience with Python, SQL and machine learning frameworks for predictive modelling and advanced analytics.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools such as Power BI.
- Strong analytical capability across data analysis tools and techniques.
- Experience working with Azure-based analytics or AI environments.
Languages:
- English (written and oral fluency)
