Position Overview

This opportunity is for a Commercial Manager on a long-term project based in Central Glasgow. The Commercial Manager will play a key role in supporting pre-contract commercial activity across procurement, tendering and cost planning. This position offers the chance to contribute to a major project environment while working across bid, design and delivery teams. The Commercial Manager role is well suited to a technically strong commercial professional with major infrastructure experience and strong analytical capability.


Role Context

This Commercial Manager position is supporting a major infrastructure project in Glasgow, Scotland. The working environment includes a hybrid arrangement with office-based collaboration alongside remote working. The role will involve engagement with stakeholders across bid, design and delivery functions during the pre-contract and tendering phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop procurement strategies to support project and commercial objectives.

  • Prepare contract management plans and support invitation to tender processes.

  • Manage the tender process from preparation of documentation through to commercial evaluation of bids.

  • Lead or support supplier negotiations to help achieve best value outcomes.

  • Carry out cost planning, estimating and benchmarking activities.

  • Identify and price commercial risks across project and tendering activities.

  • Engage with stakeholders across bid, design and delivery teams to support commercial decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential:

    Experience in pre-contract and tendering within major infrastructure projects.

  • Essential:

    Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills.

  • Essential:

    Demonstrated capability in procurement strategy, tender evaluation and commercial negotiation.

  • Desirable:

    MRICS qualification.

  • Desirable:

    MCIPS qualification.
