Construction Supervisor – Pipeline & Facilities

Position Overview

The Construction Supervisor is a critical field leadership role responsible for overseeing pipeline, facility, and plant construction activities, including pump stations, terminals, and related infrastructure. This position ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

The Construction Supervisor works closely with contractors, field crews, and project stakeholders to deliver high-quality construction while maintaining a strong focus on safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership

  • Champion the organization’s safety culture and promote adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and Life Saving Rules
  • Lead by example through visible field presence and proactive safety engagement
  • Ensure contractors and crews fully comply with safety expectations and regulatory requirements

Construction Execution

  • Oversee daily construction activities across pipeline, facility, and plant projects
  • Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure efficient execution of work
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure timely delivery of milestones
  • Identify and resolve field-level issues to maintain progress and productivity

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all construction work meets quality standards, specifications, and company procedures
  • Conduct field inspections and verifications across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes
  • Maintain compliance with environmental, regulatory, and permitting requirements
  • Support documentation, reporting, and project closeout activities

Contractor & Resource Management

  • Manage contractor performance, productivity, and adherence to scope
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, and workforce requirements to support field operations
  • Optimize resource utilization to maintain cost and schedule targets

Qualifications & Experience

Experience

  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in oil & gas pipeline, facility, or industrial construction
  • Background in roles such as General Foreman, Construction Superintendent, or Field Engineer
  • Experience overseeing multi-discipline construction scopes (civil, mechanical, piping, electrical)

Certifications & Technical Knowledge

  • Relevant trade certifications (e.g., Journeyman, Red Seal preferred)
  • Industry certifications such as CWB, API, or inspection-related credentials
  • Safety certifications (e.g., H2S Alive, First Aid, CSTS or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of construction standards, codes, and regulatory requirements

Leadership Skills

  • Proven ability to lead and manage large field teams and contractors
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex field issues
  • Effective communication and coordination between field, engineering, and project teams

Working Conditions

  • Primarily field-based position supporting active construction environments
  • Work may be performed in remote or industrial locations
  • Travel may be required, including driving on gravel or access roads
  • Ability to work rotational schedules, extended hours, and weekends as needed during peak project phases
