Contracts Division Manager

Job Purpose

  • Manage the contracts strategy for the onshore projects by controlling, directing, and implementing the contract management process while leading the development and stewardship of contracts plans across the project.
  • Provide technical, commercial, and functional leadership in all aspects of contracting, including the preparation and administration of ITT packages and EPC contracts within a high value, complex project environment.

Job Context & Major Challenges

The position is responsible for identifying key business drivers, defining accountabilities, and developing and implementing project contract management procedures aligned with the strategic objectives of a major capital project.

A key challenge unique to this role is anticipating commercial and contractual risks at an early stage while ensuring robust contract management practices are embedded across the project to:

  • Minimize disputes
  • Prevent adverse contractual outcomes
  • Improve overall project performance
  • Protect the commercial interests of the organization throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Job Accountabilities – (Not limited to the below)

  • Strategic Contracting Leadership

    • Provide strategic leadership for all project contracting activities, including ITT issuance, EPC contract execution, and Services CWO administration, while aligning contractual actions with Legal and key project stakeholders.
  • Tendering Governance

    • Oversee the development of ITT packages and direct the end-to-end tendering process to ensure commercial integrity, market competitiveness, and full compliance with project governance requirements.
  • Contract Strategy Development

    • Establish contract strategies and govern the development of EPC contract documentation to ensure complete scope definition, balanced risk allocation, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Commercial Evaluation & Recommendations

    • Assess contractor technical and commercial submissions and advise senior management and shareholders on contractual acceptability, commercial exposure, and award recommendations.
  • Contract Administration Management

    • Govern the full contract administration process, including:
    • Change management
    • Payment certification
    • Claims resolution
    • Securities monitoring
    • Contract amendments
    • Final contract closeout
    • while ensuring contractual compliance and project control.
  • Commercial Negotiations

    • Lead negotiations of contractor-initiated changes and commercial adjustments to secure optimal outcomes while protecting project cost and schedule commitments.
  • Dispute Resolution

    • Manage complex contractual disputes and direct the preparation of formal commercial correspondence to preserve the company’s contractual rights and minimise financial exposure.
  • Commercial Risk Protection

    • Protect the project’s commercial interests by maintaining rigorous oversight of the contractual environment and proactively mitigating risks affecting major capital investment.
  • Capability Development

    • Develop organizational capability within the contracts function by mentoring personnel, strengthening commercial competencies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • High-Performance Organization

    • Champion a high-performance contracts organization that delivers excellence in safety, quality, cost, and schedule through disciplined execution and commercial stewardship.

(MUST HAVE) Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in:

    • Business, or
    • Law, or
    • Engineering.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 12 years of experience across multiple project functions and assignments within the Oil & Gas industry, including:

    • Project Management
    • Engineering
    • Construction
    • Procurement
  • Including a minimum of 3 years of project management leadership experience on a major oil & gas project.
  • Demonstrated experience in:

    • Business Management
    • Risk Management
    • Project Controls
    • Cost Development
    • Schedule Development
    • Tender Preparation
    • Contract Management.
