One of our major oil and gas clients is seeking a Cost Analyst to work on a 12-month assignment in their facilities in Deer Park, TX.

Summary: This position provides financial reporting, analysis, and systems support for Corporate Engineering and Company’s capital program. This role partners with Project Controls, Procurement, Finance, Plant Capital leaders, and engineering leadership to improve cost visibility, forecasting accuracy, and decision-making through SAP reporting, dashboards (e.g., Business Warehouse/Power BI), and standardized planning and KPI tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver cost and spend reporting from SAP, Business Warehouse, and dashboards to support corporate engineering decisions and risk visibility.
  • Prepare forecasts, variance analyses, and periodic financial summaries.
  • Support cost-estimate performance analysis and post-audits to improve project financial accuracy.
  • Partner with Procurement to maintain commodity/industry pricing inputs and communicate annual updates.
  • Maintain financial datasets and reporting cadence in collaboration with the Director of Corporate Engineering.
  • Identify reporting/process gaps and drive continuous improvement of business processes and data quality.
  • Lead change management for reporting solutions (requirements, design, testing, deployment, and sustainment).
  • Support development of the Corporate Engineering budget and monitor performance to budget.
  • Coordinate with the Manager of Projects on charge-out and plant capital charge rates to maintain a net-zero corporate engineering cost structure.
  • Develop and expand automated reporting using tools such as Power BI.

Capital Program and Capital Plan Development Support

  • Provide insights and reporting that help project teams optimize spend strategies and communicate impacts to leadership.
  • Generate monthly/quarterly SAP spend reports; partner with Finance to improve data accuracy and collection.
  • Maintain the Capital Planning team site and 5-year capital planning content.
  • Maintain capital plan versions through final approval and support SAP setup/alignment to approved plans.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly plant-based capital spend and cost-tracking reports under the Manager of Projects’ guidance.
  • Maintain the monthly Corporate Capital Project Status report.
  • Compile the monthly Corporate Engineering Project Capital Forecast.
  • Support spend audits and provide dashboard/reporting inputs for leadership review.

Capital Spend Support (Corporate & Plant Engineering)

  • Partner with plant capital leaders to validate project Outlooks and forecasts.
  • Maintain Titanium reports (monthly plant capital spend, outlook, forecast, and revision status; quarterly progress).
  • Standardize processes and provide user training/support (job aids, guides, and post-implementation issue resolution).

Plant Capital KPI Support (Quarterly Basis)

  • Maintain the plant capital general team site.
  • Maintain quarterly KPI data-collection and reporting workbooks.
  • Create and update KPI visuals (graphs, charts, and summaries).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related (with a minimum of 18 hours of accounting).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing operations or related industry.
  • Skilled in SAP (preferably S4HANA), with experience developing variants and standardizing regular reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, TEAMS, Outlook) and experienced with integrated ERP systems; advanced Excel functions and formulas knowledge.
  • Strong analytical abilities and financial acumen.
  • Must show both strategic and creative thinking, as well as excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in a virtual business setting.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated capability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking and multi-priority environment, consistently meeting deadlines.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of Project Scheduling (Primavera P6, Microsoft Planning (formally Microsoft Projects).
