Job Title: Deepwater Development & Production Geoscientist
Duration: 1 year (possibility of extension)
Schedule: 5/40
Location: Spring, TX

This opportunity offers a senior-level subsurface role supporting field development, reservoir management, and production optimisation within a deepwater environment. The position focuses on integrating seismic interpretation, well logs, pressure and production data, and reservoir surveillance to support high-quality technical and commercial decisions across the producing asset lifecycle. This company operates across upstream, refining, chemicals, specialty products, and lower-emissions energy initiatives, providing a technically complex setting with broad business relevance.

Required Education:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent advanced degree in geology, geophysics, petroleum geoscience, or a related discipline

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of oil and gas industry experience with significant involvement in field development, reservoir management, or production operations
  • Experience identifying and maturing infill drilling, sidetrack, recompletion, and production-optimisation opportunities
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary subsurface studies and supporting decision-making through the producing-asset lifecycle
  • Experience monitoring asset performance, investigating production underperformance, and recommending surveillance or intervention activities
  • Right to work in the USA

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of reservoir geology, seismic interpretation, petrophysics, structural geology, sedimentology, stratigraphy, and geological modelling
  • Ability to integrate static geological interpretations with pressure, production, well-test, fluid, and reservoir-engineering data
  • Working knowledge of volumetrics, reserves and resources classification, uncertainty analysis, reservoir simulation, production forecasting, and economic evaluation
  • Ability to define well objectives and target ranges, assess subsurface risks, support well placement, and evaluate post-well results
  • Strong technical judgement and the ability to make recommendations from incomplete or conflicting data
  • Effective project leadership, stakeholder engagement, technical writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to mentor team members, provide technical assurance, and influence multidisciplinary and leadership decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with mature-field redevelopment, surveillance planning, waterflood or gas-injection management, enhanced recovery, and late-life asset optimisation
  • Experience supporting well planning, geosteering, drilling operations, formation evaluation, and post-well reviews
  • Knowledge of static-to-dynamic model integration, history matching, development-scenario evaluation, and probabilistic forecasting
  • Familiarity with reserves booking and reporting under systems such as the SPE Petroleum Resources Management System and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency with applications such as Petrel, Geolog, Eclipse, INTERSECT, Spotfire, Power BI, Python, MATLab or equivalent tools
  • Experience working with deepwater, conventional clastic, carbonate, fractured, unconventional, or mature producing assets
  • Demonstrated leadership of integrated subsurface studies, partner reviews, investment decisions, or field-development planning
  • Recognised technical leadership through mentoring, peer reviews, publications, conference presentations, or subject-matter-expert responsibilities
