About the Role

Airswift is currently recruiting for a Telecommunication Engineering & Delivery Lead on behalf of a leading energy operator.

Reporting to the Delivery Manager, this role will be responsible for leading the resourcing, governance, and successful delivery of the Critical and Operational Communications Infrastructure Program across a portfolio of onshore and offshore operating assets.

This position provides leadership, technical direction, and delivery assurance across a complex program environment, ensuring communications infrastructure is delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with engineering, operational, and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead contractor and service provider performance to deliver high-quality outcomes across the communications infrastructure portfolio.
  • Provide strategic direction and program leadership to ensure delivery against approved scope, schedule, budget, and performance baselines.
  • Partner with Telecom Engineering teams to communicate program objectives, technical strategies, and delivery priorities to stakeholders.
  • Oversee the management, governance, execution, and future direction of the delivery program.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with strategic suppliers, Technology Managers, IT leadership, and operational stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and direct service provider workforces to ensure deliverables comply with company standards, specifications, and work processes.
  • Safeguard operational and production environments through strict adherence to IT Change Management and Engineering Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks for supplier-delivered projects and ensure compliance with organisational requirements.
  • Provide delivery assurance, risk management, and executive reporting across multiple concurrent projects and programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a strong culture of safety, operational excellence, and organisational learning.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within Engineering, Communications, Operational Technology (OT), Telecommunications, or Information Technology environments.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience delivering Operational Communications and IT services within the energy, resources, or industrial sectors.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging with senior business leaders and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex programs and projects across both offshore and onshore operating assets.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, mentor, and develop high-performing technical teams.
  • Strong experience establishing governance, assurance, and performance management frameworks for vendor and service provider-led projects.
  • Sound understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and their application within project and operational environments.
  • Practical knowledge of Engineering Management of Change (MOC) requirements and associated risk management processes.
  • Understanding of Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) and Major Accident Event (MAE) Bow Tie methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to identify capability gaps, secure specialist expertise, and drive successful project outcomes in complex operational environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in Project Management, Program Management, PMO, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer with an accredited tertiary qualification, recognised by Engineers Australia, in electronic / communications engineering or equivalent 

Experience supporting critical communications infrastructure, industrial networking, or mission-critical operational technology environments.
