Document Controller (Contract)

Location: Fort McMurray, AB
Contract Length: 12 Months (with potential for extension)
Start Date: Late August/Early September 2026

Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Document Controller to join their team on a 12-month contract assignment. This opportunity has been created to support increased workload demands and help address document management backlog activities. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training and mentorship while working within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

This role is ideal for someone looking to develop or expand their experience in document control, records management, and project support within an industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, organize, distribute, and maintain project and operational documentation.
  • Ensure documents are accurately processed and maintained in accordance with company standards and procedures.
  • Upload, track, retrieve, and archive documentation using cloud-based systems.
  • Support document review, approval, and transmittal workflows.
  • Maintain document registers and filing systems.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate document management.
  • Assist with data entry, reporting, and backlog reduction activities.
  • Support continuous improvement of document control processes.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience using SharePoint or other cloud-based collaboration platforms.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.

Preferred

  • Previous document control experience is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Experience in oil and gas, mining, construction, engineering, or other industrial environments is an asset.
  • Knowledge of records management or document management principles is beneficial.

Work Environment & Support

  • Fort McMurray-based candidates are strongly preferred.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Transportation support is provided through a site shuttle operating between Fort McMurray and the work site.
  • Training and onboarding will be provided by the Document Control team.
  • The successful candidate will work alongside a team of four professionals and receive ongoing mentorship from an experienced lead.
