Position Overview
This Electrical Engineer opportunity is suited to a technically strong professional with field engineering experience across construction, testing, pre-commissioning and readiness for commissioning. The Electrical Engineer will support the delivery of complex electrical, instrumentation and telecom scope on a major pipeline development and associated facilities. Role Context
This role sits within a major crude oil export pipeline project spanning approximately 1,443km from Kabaale – Hoima in Uganda to the Chongoleani peninsula near Tanga port in Tanzania. The position supports onshore pipeline construction and related AGI, MST facilities and EITS infrastructure works, with a focus on field engineering delivery through construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Provide field engineering support for construction electrical scope through installation, testing, pre-commissioning and readiness for commissioning.
Ensure electrical and instrumentation equipment is delivered, installed, tested and commissioned in line with project requirements and quality expectations.
Support site delivery across systems including electrical transmission, substations, power generation equipment, motor control systems, power management systems, earthing systems, UPS and transformers.
Contribute technical oversight across integrated electrical, instrumentation and telecom systems, including ICSS, FGS, DCS, RTU, CCTV, ESD, ACS, communication systems, emergency lighting, SCADA, ISS and PAGA.
Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve technical queries, design issues, deviations and required changes impacting site execution.
Monitor construction contractor technical compliance and quality standards during execution of works.
Review construction method statements and support the quality and delivery of construction work packs.
Maintain and support approval of engineering mark-ups and redline updates in line with as-built requirements.
Support loop checking, instrument calibration, panel power-up and site acceptance activities.
Assist construction walkdowns, mechanical completion activities and completion dossier readiness for handover.
Review contractor reports and meeting outputs for engineering accuracy and follow-up actions.
Promote a safety-first culture and participate in safety leadership coordination with construction teams.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline supporting electrical engineering management and construction execution for onshore pipeline and associated facilities.
Essential:
Strong field engineering experience covering construction, testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning readiness within complex industrial or energy projects.
Essential:
Experience working across electrical, instrumentation and telecom systems such as UPS, power systems, transformers, ICSS, FGS, DCS, RTU, CCTV, ESD, ACS, communication systems and emergency lighting.
Essential:
Experience supporting contractor technical compliance, quality standards, engineering queries, redline management and handover documentation.
Desirable:
Chartered Engineer or Registered Engineer status.
Desirable:
Membership of a relevant professional institute or certification body.
