Duration:

Long-term contract.


Location:

Travel-based role. The inspector is assigned to a project and remains on-site for the duration of the assignment.

 An exciting opportunity is available for an Electrical Inspector to support the construction and commissioning of utility-scale solar projects with a major energy business. This Electrical Inspector position offers the chance to play a key role in delivering high-quality renewable energy infrastructure, with a strong focus on electrical compliance, quality assurance, safety, and performance. The Electrical Inspector will work across complex site activities involving DC and AC collection systems, medium-voltage infrastructure, substations, grounding systems, inverters, transformers, and SCADA systems.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out inspections of electrical installation activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, NEC, NESC, NFPA, and applicable regulations.

  • Verify the quality and workmanship of DC and AC collection systems, medium-voltage infrastructure, inverters, transformers, substations, grounding systems, conduit, cable installations, terminations, and SCADA systems.

  • Review construction activities against approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

  • Identify, document, and track inspection findings, deficiencies, punch-list items, and corrective actions.

  • Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records.

  • Support testing, commissioning, energization, and project handover activities.

  • Work closely with construction, engineering, commissioning, and HSE teams to resolve quality-related issues.

  • Promote a strong site safety culture and ensure compliance with site safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical construction, inspection, QA/QC, or a related field.

  • Experience within utility-scale solar, power generation, or renewable energy projects is preferred.

  • Strong background in interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.

  • Knowledge of electrical testing and commissioning practices.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, reporting, and technical documentation capability.

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

 Technical Skills & Tools:

  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, NFPA, and relevant industry electrical standards.

  • Experience inspecting DC and AC electrical systems within large-scale energy projects.

  • Familiarity with medium-voltage systems.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project documentation systems.

  • Understanding of construction quality standards, commissioning activities, and energisation processes.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Technical or electrical education is preferred.

  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Certifications:

  • NICET (Preferred)

  • Journeyman Electrician certification (Preferred)

  • Master Electrician certification (Preferred)

  • OSHA 30 certification (Preferred)
