Electrical Inspector

Long-term contract.
Location:
Travel-based role. The inspector is assigned to a project and remains on-site for the duration of the assignment.
An exciting opportunity is available for an Electrical Inspector to support the construction and commissioning of utility-scale solar projects with a major energy business. This Electrical Inspector position offers the chance to play a key role in delivering high-quality renewable energy infrastructure, with a strong focus on electrical compliance, quality assurance, safety, and performance. The Electrical Inspector will work across complex site activities involving DC and AC collection systems, medium-voltage infrastructure, substations, grounding systems, inverters, transformers, and SCADA systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out inspections of electrical installation activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, NEC, NESC, NFPA, and applicable regulations.
Verify the quality and workmanship of DC and AC collection systems, medium-voltage infrastructure, inverters, transformers, substations, grounding systems, conduit, cable installations, terminations, and SCADA systems.
Review construction activities against approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Identify, document, and track inspection findings, deficiencies, punch-list items, and corrective actions.
Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records.
Support testing, commissioning, energization, and project handover activities.
Work closely with construction, engineering, commissioning, and HSE teams to resolve quality-related issues.
Promote a strong site safety culture and ensure compliance with site safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
Required Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical construction, inspection, QA/QC, or a related field.
Experience within utility-scale solar, power generation, or renewable energy projects is preferred.
Strong background in interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
Knowledge of electrical testing and commissioning practices.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment.
Strong attention to detail, reporting, and technical documentation capability.
Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Technical Skills & Tools:
Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, NFPA, and relevant industry electrical standards.
Experience inspecting DC and AC electrical systems within large-scale energy projects.
Familiarity with medium-voltage systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project documentation systems.
Understanding of construction quality standards, commissioning activities, and energisation processes.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical or electrical education is preferred.
Valid driving license and willingness to travel to project sites.
Certifications:
NICET (Preferred)
Journeyman Electrician certification (Preferred)
Master Electrician certification (Preferred)
OSHA 30 certification (Preferred)
