Job Title: Electrical Specialist IV
Duration: 3 months (possibility for extension)
Schedule: 5/40 schedule
Location: McCamey, TX
Notes: Journeyman electrician license is required
This opportunity is with a major international oil and gas exploration and production company with a strong presence across energy and chemicals. The role focuses on installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems, with responsibility for troubleshooting, electrical drawings, testing equipment and safety compliance. This position offers the chance to contribute within a technically demanding environment involving electrical distribution systems, MCC operations, substations and 4160 VAC systems.
Required Education:
- High School diploma or GED
Required Skills:
- Excellent diagnostic and repair capability for complex problems in electrical distribution systems
- Ability to install, troubleshoot and repair switchboard control panels and components, motor circuits, building and lighting circuits, and control circuits
- Capability to understand mechanical relay logic and ladder logic
- Ability to program simple ladder logic and VFDs
- Proficiency in reading electrical installation drawings, circuit schedules, plans, area classifications, motor schematics and wiring diagrams
- Proficiency in using electrical test equipment associated with troubleshooting
- Knowledge of NEC and OSHA standards
- Ability to safely supervise electrical contract work
- Ability to work effectively with electrical engineers and energy providers
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on low voltage electrical equipment including switchgear and breakers
- Good computer skills
- Team-oriented approach, flexibility, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in working with 4160 VAC systems
- Skill in overhead power line troubleshooting
- Comprehensive understanding of Motor Control Center (MCC) operations
- Knowledge of substation functionality and procedures
- Knowledge of synchronous motors troubleshooting and operation
- Ability to inspect electrical work for safety and comply with safety regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while keeping up to date with electrical codes and standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum Journeyman electrician license (Preferred)
- 3-5 years of oilfield experience preferred
- Responsible approach to personal safety and the safety of co-workers, contractors and the public
- Electrically qualified per OSHA 1910.269 up to 600V
