Position: Engineering Lead (Process – C2 Recovery)

Location: Qatar

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead (Process – C2 Recovery) to provide technical leadership and discipline engineering support for a major Recovery Project through the FEED and EPC phases.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all process engineering activities, studies, and deliverables comply with project specifications, international standards, safety requirements, and operational objectives. This role will provide technical assurance, support engineering capability development, oversee contractor performance, and ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Engineering Governance

  • Lead the Process Engineering discipline for the C2 Recovery Project and provide technical direction across all project phases.
  • Review, approve, and endorse engineering designs, studies, and deliverables in accordance with approved standards, specifications, and delegated authority.
  • Ensure process engineering activities comply with industry codes, corporate engineering standards, and project requirements.
  • Review technical concepts, feasibility studies, FEED packages, detailed engineering designs, and modifications for technical suitability and operational effectiveness.
  • Evaluate technical deviations, waivers, and design variations, and provide recommendations for approval.

Project Execution Support

  • Provide specialist process engineering expertise during Concept Selection, FEED, EPC, Construction, Commissioning, Start-up, and Handover phases.
  • Support the development of project execution strategies to ensure alignment with technical requirements, safety standards, and operational objectives.
  • Participate in technical evaluations of EPC contractors, vendors, and service providers, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry best practices.
  • Monitor contractor engineering performance and ensure timely delivery of engineering services and deliverables.
  • Support interface management across engineering disciplines, project teams, operations, and stakeholders.

Technical Assurance & Risk Management

  • Conduct technical reviews and risk-based assessments of complex engineering issues that may impact project execution.
  • Ensure all engineering solutions support plant reliability, operability, maintainability, and safety objectives.
  • Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation measures throughout project execution.
  • Support the implementation of technical assurance processes and standardization initiatives across the project.

Stakeholder & Contractor Management

  • Maintain strong working relationships with Operations, SHEQ, Project Management, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, suppliers, shareholders, and third-party service providers.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to project teams and stakeholders on all process engineering matters.
  • Facilitate alignment between engineering deliverables and operational requirements.

Resource & Capability Development

  • Support engineering resource planning and deployment to meet project requirements.
  • Participate in recruitment activities, competency assessments, and technical evaluations of engineering personnel.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, mentoring, and continuous professional development within the engineering team.
  • Contribute to strengthening discipline capability and technical excellence.

 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory, acting lead, or contractor oversight experience.
  • Experience with Oil & Gas Companies, EPC contractors, sub-contractors, vendors or service companies involved in the oil and gas industry.
  • Knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost control, project gating system, project execution plan, risk management, change management, interface management, commissioning, and hand over processes/procedures.
  • Strong knowledge and application of international engineering standards, specifications and design.
