Airswift is looking for a Environmental / Regulatory Advisor III to work for a major O&G company in the Spring, TX, for an initial 12-months assignment.

Position Overview

The Environmental / Regulatory Advisor III is a technical opportunity supporting carbon capture and transportation/storage projects, with a focus on wetland and surface permitting along the US Gulf Coast. This position is suited to professionals with strong environmental and regulatory expertise who can help shape permitting strategies and support ongoing project activity. The Environmental / Regulatory Advisor III will play an important role in regulatory compliance, environmental planning, and coordination across project stakeholders. This Environmental / Regulatory Advisor III opportunity offers exposure to complex infrastructure work in a campus-based role with limited travel.

Role Context

This position sits within carbon capture and transportation/storage activity and supports several ongoing projects. The work focuses on wetland and surface permitting along the US Gulf Coast and involves contributing to environmental and regulatory deliverables linked to engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. The role is primarily campus based, with limited travel of approximately 5% to Gulf Coast locations for site assessment and area walks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support permitting strategies for wetland and surface permitting activities along the US Gulf Coast.
  • Coordinate and oversee environmental and regulatory programmes across project phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Develop, implement, and support regulatory compliance plans and environmental management plans.
  • Obtain permits, licences, and approvals in a timely manner while tracking approvals and compliance status.
  • Work with project teams and contractors to ensure environmental, socioeconomic, and health requirements are integrated into designs and implementation plans.
  • Review environmental and regulatory plans and related deliverables for completeness and acceptability.
  • Support environmental performance monitoring, compliance inspections, and reporting activities.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory compliance and environmental performance in line with applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Prepare stewardship and compliance reports and support environmental and regulatory training and awareness activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: University degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural or Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Social Sciences, or another relevant technical field.
  • Essential: Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in wetland permitting and environmental or regulatory work.
  • Essential: Strong knowledge of Army Corps of Engineers requirements, the Clean Water Act, and other applicable regulations.
  • Essential: Experience in project management and regulatory approval processes.
  • Essential: Ability to read pipeline plans and work confidently with Microsoft applications and mapping tools such as Google Earth.
  • Essential: Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
  • Essential: Understanding of US state and federal regulations and ability to demonstrate regulatory knowledge.
  • Desirable: Experience in construction or extractive industry projects.
  • Desirable: Background working for a contractor or EPC contractor.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of external project financing.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with in-country language(s).
  • Desirable: Confidence communicating with regulators.
