Construction Superintendent (Piping)
Location: Hazira, Gujarat, India (Open to locals & expats)
Job Purpose
The Construction Superintendent (Piping) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing piping fabrication, installation, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities for offshore topsides facilities. The role ensures safe, high-quality, and schedule-driven execution of the Compression Project piping scope while maintaining full compliance with project specifications, international standards, and HSE requirements. The position also drives effective coordination between engineering, construction, and contractor teams to resolve site issues, optimize fabrication sequences, and achieve successful project delivery.

Reports to: Construction Lead (Piping)

Key Interfaces:
- Project Construction, Quality, and HSE teams
- Engineering and Commissioning teams
- EPC Contractor and subcontractor supervision
- Daily coordination with contractor teams to review progress, priorities, and upcoming activities
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure strict compliance with project HSE requirements, safe work practices, and industry regulations throughout fabrication and installation activities.
- Oversee piping fabrication, installation, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with contractual, technical, and quality requirements.
- Manage piping execution to achieve project objectives related to safety, quality, schedule, and construction efficiency.
- Review fabrication and installation sequences and coordinate with engineering teams to resolve constructability issues, design clashes, and site challenges.
- Verify proper preservation, handling, and protection of piping systems in accordance with approved project specifications.
- Promote a strong safety culture through visible site leadership, participation in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and field safety initiatives.
- Ensure completion of piping works with minimal punch items and zero carry-over work upon yard departure.
- Review engineering deliverables for constructability, technical compliance, and alignment with project standards.
- Assess contractor deviation requests and support the delivery of complete construction dossiers, including documentation, testing records, commissioning packages, and as-built information.
- Monitor progress, identify quality or schedule concerns, and drive corrective actions while sharing lessons learned and best practices with contractor teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma qualification or equivalent technical certification.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a piping supervisory role on large offshore topsides, decks, or living quarters projects.
- Proven experience working with multinational project teams and contractors.
- Strong knowledge of spool fabrication, piping installation, and piping completion activities.
- Experience with carbon steel, exotic alloy, GRE, and CRA-clad piping systems.
- Familiarity with line walks, hydrotesting, flushing, drying, reinstatement, and flange management.
- Sound understanding of industry codes, standards, specifications, and construction practices.
- Knowledge of fabrication, transportation, installation, hook-up, and brownfield execution activities.
- Experience within sour gas and LNG production facility projects is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve site issues, manage construction risks, and deliver excellent safety performance.
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within large-scale operating organizations and major capital projects.
