Job Description

The Field Construction Engineer – Piping will oversee the safe and environmentally compliant execution of piping installation and testing carried out by EPC contractors on site. The successful candidate will monitor construction activities to ensure progress aligns with project specifications, applicable drawings, manufacturer recommendations, industry standards and relevant codes.

This role will involve reporting quality issues in a timely manner and supporting effective resolution through technical expertise. The position will work closely with construction, commissioning, turnover and operations teams to help deliver a high-quality finished facility.

Key responsibilities include conducting field observations, safety leadership activities and field walks, participating in JSA reviews and toolbox meetings, and following site safety regulations at all times. The Field Construction Engineer – Piping will also maintain accountability for discipline-specific deliverables, monitor work progress, support punch list walkdowns and develop a strong understanding of system scoping from an early stage.

This Field Construction Engineer – Piping opportunity will include compiling drawings and specifications for assigned systems, overseeing contractor construction activities, ensuring compliance with site regulations, permits, safety programmes and EPC contract requirements, and supporting schedule performance. The role will also participate in system walkdowns, report punch items and assist in clearing them through inspections.

In addition, the Field Construction Engineer – Piping will respond to technical queries from internal and external stakeholders, review contractor procedures and reports, monitor product quality and support commissioning and start-up readiness in line with turnover plans and plant performance expectations. Responsibilities also include supporting storage and preservation compliance and contributing to safe heavy haul and heavy lift activity for transported equipment.

Required Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

- 8+ years of experience managing major mechanical construction projects

- Experience within LNG, oil and gas, or energy infrastructure projects

- At least 5 years of background in the management or construction of energy infrastructure projects

- Experience supporting complex field engineering and construction site activities

- Experience with system walkdowns, punch listing, inspections and contractor oversight

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of piping installation, cleanliness, testing and restoration

- Good working knowledge of piping systems, supports, valves and related equipment within the gas industry

- Knowledge of construction or engineering operations relating to field activities across single or multiple disciplines

- Demonstrated knowledge of heavy industrial projects in oil, gas, refining, petrochemical or power generation environments

- Ability to monitor contractor compliance with project specifications, site regulations, safety requirements and quality standards

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex technical issues

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

- Strong written and verbal communication skills for engagement with internal and external project stakeholders

- Ability to build positive working relationships, influence contractor performance and contribute to a collaborative team environment

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Required Certifications

- Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

- Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)

- At least 5 years of experience with brownfield projects
