Field Operator II - Compressor Operator
Duration: 1 year initially with possibility of extension / go direct
Location: Tilden, TX
Rotation: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
Role Context
This role sits within the oil and gas sector and supports compressor station operations focused on natural gas compression equipment. The working environment includes field-based operations, remote locations, varying weather conditions, and rotating shift coverage including weekends and holidays as needed. This Field Operator II - Compressor Operator position also involves oversight of planned maintenance scheduling and coordination with specialist contract maintenance groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor natural gas compressors, dehydration units, and associated equipment to support safe and efficient station performance.
- Adjust operating parameters to maintain pressure, flow, efficiency, and overall equipment reliability.
- Carry out routine inspections and record operating readings to identify irregularities or developing issues.
- Perform minor maintenance activities and support repair work on compressors, engines, and auxiliary systems.
- Identify mechanical or process issues and escalate them appropriately to maintenance personnel.
- Assist with troubleshooting of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems.
- Maintain accurate daily logs covering operating data, maintenance activity, and safety checks.
- Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and operational deviations in a timely manner.
- Support the oversight and scheduling of preventative maintenance and maintenance work with contract compressor mechanics, generator mechanics, and emissions testing personnel.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2-5 years of experience in gas compression, oil and gas operations, or industrial maintenance.
- Familiarity with rotating equipment, instrumentation, and process controls.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability.
- Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical or vocational training in addition to high school diploma or equivalent.
