Job Title: Field Operator II – Compressor Operator
Duration: 12 months initially with possibility of extension
Schedule: 5/2, 40 hours with overtime, possible on-call work
Location: Tilden, Texas
This opportunity is with a company seeking a skilled professional to support the safe and efficient operation of natural gas compression equipment in a compressor station environment. The role focuses on operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance to help maximise equipment reliability and run time. This position will also support daily reporting, safety checks, and the use of digital tools for operational data entry.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience with natural gas compressors
- Experience in gas compression, oil and gas operations, or industrial maintenance
- Experience operating and monitoring natural gas compressors, dehydration units, and associated equipment
- Experience performing routine inspections, recording equipment readings, and identifying operational irregularities
- Experience supporting minor maintenance and repairs on compressors, engines, and auxiliary systems
Required Skills:
- Must live within max 50-mile radius from Tilden, Texas
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability
- Ability to adjust operating parameters to maintain pressure, flow, and efficiency
- Ability to identify mechanical or process issues and escalate appropriately
- Knowledge of rotating equipment, instrumentation, and process controls
- Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals
- Ability to assist with troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems
- Ability to maintain accurate operating, maintenance, and safety records using digital tools and systems
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and remote locations
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb, bend, stand for extended periods, and wear required PPE
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical or vocational training
- Instrument air compressor experience
- Knowledge of HMI systems and control room operations
- OSHA 10/30
- H2S Awareness
- First Aid/CPR
- DOT Operator Qualification (OQ)
