Overview

We are seeking a Water Systems Control Room Operator to monitor, control, and optimize the operation of Clean Brine Facilities, Salt Water Disposal (SWD) systems, distribution networks, and related infrastructure. This position plays a critical role in maintaining system reliability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating field operations through real-time monitoring and remote controls.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SCADA systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to respond effectively to operational issues in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

System Monitoring

  • Monitor Clean Brine Facilities, Salt Water Disposal (SWD) systems, ponds, and distribution networks through SCADA systems.
  • Track operational metrics including:
    • Flow rates
    • Pressure levels
    • Reservoir and pond levels
    • Equipment status and performance
  • Identify abnormal operating conditions and coordinate corrective actions.

Remote Operations

  • Operate and adjust pumps, valves, inlets, and other system components remotely to ensure optimal performance.
  • Respond to system alarms and alerts in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues remotely and implement corrective measures when possible.
  • Support uninterrupted facility operations through proactive system monitoring.

Coordination & Communication

  • Maintain clear communication with field operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel.
  • Dispatch field technicians, electrical crews, and other support personnel when on-site intervention is required.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, repairs, and emergency response efforts.
  • Provide operational updates to management and cross-functional teams.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of operational activities, incidents, and maintenance events.
  • Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, performance opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Ensure data integrity across monitoring and reporting systems.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure operations comply with applicable environmental, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Follow established emergency response protocols during system failures, equipment malfunctions, or contamination events.
  • Promote safe operating practices and actively support company safety initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of water quality, disposal regulations, and operational compliance requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in system upgrades, process improvements, and training programs.
  • Recommend enhancements to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and system performance.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and monitoring capabilities.

Required Qualifications

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of:
    • Clean Brine Facilities
    • Salt Water Disposal (SWD) systems
    • Water distribution networks
    • System interconnects
    • Ponds and reservoir operations
  • Familiarity with tank batteries and oilfield production equipment.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and remote control.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge related to:
    • Pumps
    • Valves
    • Instrumentation
    • Process equipment

Computer & Software Skills

  • Proficiency with:
    • SCADA systems
    • Data logging software
    • Monitoring and reporting platforms
  • Ability to interpret system alarms and troubleshoot remotely.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including:
    • Excel
    • Word
    • Outlook
    • PowerPoint
  • Experience creating reports and maintaining operational documentation.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to analyze operational data and identify performance trends or anomalies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure during operational disruptions or emergencies.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Communication Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with field personnel, maintenance teams, and management.
  • Ability to accurately document incidents, operational changes, and corrective actions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating water handling or disposal systems in the oil and gas industry.
  • Previous control room, dispatch, or SCADA operations experience.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements and water management regulations.
  • Experience supporting remote operations and field coordination activities.

Work Environment

  • Primarily control room and office-based environment with periodic field interaction.
  • May require rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holiday coverage depending on operational needs.
  • Ability to respond effectively during emergency situations and operational upsets.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail, situational awareness, and multitasking.
