Role Overview
The FPSO Topsides Rotating Engineer will support the FPSO Lead Rotating Engineer throughout the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of the project.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, reliability, performance, and successful integration of rotating equipment packages across the FPSO topsides facilities. The role requires close coordination with EPC contractors, vendors, shipyards, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design Management
Review and comment on detailed engineering deliverables related to rotating equipment.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, company standards, and international codes including API, ISO, and ASME.
Participate in design reviews, technical audits, HAZOPs, and multidisciplinary engineering workshops.
Support technical risk assessments and change management activities.
Ensure engineering solutions are optimized for reliability, operability, maintainability, and lifecycle performance.
Rotating Equipment Package Management
Provide technical oversight for rotating equipment packages including:
Gas Injection Compressors
Gas Export Compressors
Centrifugal and Positive Displacement Pumps
Gas Turbines and Drivers
Utility Compressors
Produced Water and Seawater Lift Pumps
Review vendor packages, technical queries, deviations, and design documentation.
Participate in technical bid evaluations and supplier qualification activities.
Support total cost of ownership (TCO) assessments and equipment selection activities.
Vendor Coordination & FAT Activities
Manage technical interfaces with equipment suppliers and package vendors.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and witness testing activities.
Ensure timely closure of technical actions and vendor-related issues.
Monitor supplier performance and deliverable schedules throughout project execution.
Interface Management
Coordinate interfaces between rotating equipment and:
Process Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Systems
Instrumentation & Control
Safety Systems
HVAC Systems
Commissioning Teams
Ensure effective communication between engineering offices, fabrication yards, vendors, and project stakeholders.
Construction, Yard & Commissioning Support
Support fabrication yard activities during equipment installation and mechanical completion.
Verify equipment preservation, alignment, installation quality, and readiness for commissioning.
Review Inspection Test Records (ITRs), Punch Lists, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and completion dossiers.
Assist commissioning and start-up teams through system completion and operational handover phases.
Support performance testing and troubleshooting during commissioning activities.
Project Controls & Reporting
Contribute to project progress monitoring, weekly reporting, and schedule reviews.
Support manpower, procurement, and engineering readiness assessments.
Ensure alignment with project execution plans and contractual requirements.
HSE & Quality
Promote and comply with all company HSE and quality requirements.
Support the project's objectives regarding safety, technical excellence, reliability, and environmental performance.
Ensure all activities are executed according to company standards and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering and/or inspection within Oil & Gas.
Minimum 3 years of FPSO, offshore production, FLNG, LNG, or major offshore project experience.
Proven experience during Detailed Engineering and EPC project phases.
Strong knowledge of API, ISO, ASME, and international rotating equipment standards.
Experience managing vendor documentation, package engineering, and technical interfaces.
Experience participating in FATs and supplier technical evaluations.
Familiarity with commissioning, pre-commissioning, system completion, and start-up activities.
Fluent English required; French is advantageous.

Candidates with the following experience will be highly regarded:
FPSO Topsides projects from FEED through Commissioning.
Gas injection and gas export compressor packages.
Major offshore project developments with operators such as:

ExxonMobil
BP
Equinor
Petrobras
Experience working with major FPSO contractors and EPC contractors such as:
SBM Offshore
MODEC
BW Offshore
Saipem
Technip Energies
Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI)
Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI)
Hanwha Ocean
Shipyard or fabrication yard experience in South Korea, Singapore, China, or similar international construction locations.
Commissioning and start-up support on offshore facilities.
Mobility Requirements
The successful candidate must be willing to work across multiple international locations during the project lifecycle:
Paris, France (1 to 2 years)
Singapore (up to 18 months)
Geoje, South Korea (up to 18 months)
Frequent missions to fabrication yards and project sites may be required.
