About the Role
We are seeking an experienced ESG Procurement Compliance & Sustainability Lead to drive sustainable procurement practices, strengthen governance, and ensure compliance with ESG, regulatory, and industry requirements. This role will lead sustainability, responsible sourcing, supplier diversity, and Indigenous participation initiatives while supporting ESG reporting and continuous improvement across the procurement function.
Key Responsibilities
ESG Compliance & Governance
- Establish and maintain ESG compliance frameworks across procurement activities.
- Review and implement procurement policies and procedures aligned with regulatory and ESG requirements.
- Ensure procurement practices comply with legal, regulatory, and internal governance standards.
- Support the development and implementation of procurement governance strategies.
Sustainability & ESG
- Integrate ESG and sustainability criteria into procurement processes and supplier evaluations.
- Act as the subject matter expert for sustainable procurement and provide guidance across the organisation.
- Support organisational sustainability and emissions reduction objectives.
- Monitor industry developments, emerging regulations, and ESG trends.
Reporting & Assurance
- Lead reporting related to local content and Indigenous participation initiatives.
- Support external ESG procurement reporting requirements.
- Track ESG performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Supplier Diversity & Indigenous Participation
- Develop and implement initiatives to increase Indigenous supplier participation.
- Manage relationships with key supplier diversity organisations and industry bodies.
- Promote inclusive and diverse procurement practices across the supply chain.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
- Lead responsible sourcing and modern slavery improvement initiatives.
- Support supplier risk management and contract governance processes.
- Drive continuous improvement programs to strengthen procurement sustainability and governance outcomes.
Training & Stakeholder Engagement
- Deliver ESG and governance training to procurement teams and stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead or support cross-functional procurement excellence initiatives.
About You
Essential Experience
- 5+ years' experience in procurement, supply chain, sustainability, ESG, governance, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing ESG, sustainability, or compliance initiatives within a procurement environment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement governance and best-practice compliance frameworks.
- Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver practical solutions to complex challenges.
- Advanced data analysis and reporting skills, including strong proficiency in Excel and business reporting tools.
- Experience working with complex business processes and systems to improve reporting, insights, and automation.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of an organisation.
- Passion for ESG, sustainability, and responsible sourcing practices.
