Our client, a major midstream company, is looking for a Ground Disturbance Supervisor to join their team. This is a contract opportunity to work until the end of 2026 with possibility of extension.
This individual will be responsible for field oversight and supervision for live pipeline excavations and integrity dig activities. This is a critical role supporting pipeline integrity programs, ensuring all excavation activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, company procedures, and industry best practices.
The successful candidate will possess significant hands-on experience overseeing the excavation and exposure of operating (live) pipelines, with a strong understanding of pipeline integrity assessment, excavation hazards, utility locating, and contractor management.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct field oversight for pipeline integrity excavations and live pipeline exposure activities.
- Ensure safe execution of excavation work around operating pipelines while maintaining compliance with company safety programs and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate excavation contractors, line locating personnel, inspectors, and other stakeholders during integrity dig operations.
- Verify that all ground disturbance activities are performed in accordance with approved permits, procedures, and excavation plans.
- Review and interpret line locate information prior to excavation activities.
- Monitor excavation methods to prevent damage to pipelines and third-party infrastructure.
- Conduct daily safety meetings, hazard assessments, and field-level risk evaluations.
- Verify proper shoring, excavation practices, and safe work procedures are followed.
- Identify and communicate integrity-related findings during dig operations.
- Document field observations, excavation progress, and integrity findings.
- Liaise with pipeline engineers, integrity specialists, contractors, and operations personnel.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements throughout all project phases.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pipeline inspection, supervision, or construction oversight.
- Demonstrated experience supervising live pipeline excavations and integrity digs.
- Strong understanding of excavation regulations, pipeline safety requirements, and damage prevention practices.
- GD Supervisor Level 2 Certification.
- Valid H2S Alive certification.
- Line Locate Training.
- ATV Certification.
- Relevant industry safety certifications and tickets.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work in field environments.
Preferred:
- Ownership of personal line locating equipment and experience performing utility and pipeline locates.
- Advanced line locator certification and practical locating experience.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting:
- In-Line Inspection (ILI) data
- Integrity assessment reports
- Pipeline anomaly reports
- Corrosion and crack-related integrity findings
- Dig sheets and excavation packages
- Previous experience supporting pipeline integrity management programs.
- Knowledge of pipeline inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation activities.
