The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join a major renewable energy construction project. Working within a dynamic project environment, you will support the delivery of health, safety, and environmental initiatives across the construction phase, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, company standards, and project objectives.

This role is ideal for an emerging HSE professional seeking to further develop their career within large-scale construction, mining, energy, or infrastructure projects. You will work closely with experienced leaders, contractors, and frontline personnel to promote a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining HSE systems, procedures, and policies.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and hazard identification activities.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Review JHAs, permits, and risk assessments.
  • Participate in daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
  • Provide visible field support and engage regularly with work crews and contractors.
  • Assist with incident, hazard, and near-miss investigations.
  • Support risk assessments and risk management workshops.
  • Track corrective actions and ensure timely close-out.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records and documentation.
  • Prepare and assist with weekly and monthly HSE reports.
  • Support contractor mobilisation, onboarding, and compliance activities.
  • Assist in delivering safety inductions, training, and awareness programs.
  • Monitor HSE performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with emergency response, audits, and drug and alcohol testing programs as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in construction, mining, oil & gas, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Basic understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and requirements.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001, AS4801, or similar safety management systems is desirable.
  • Ability to identify hazards and support risk mitigation activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence positive safety behaviours across all levels.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable learning new systems and digital safety tools.
  • ICAM or equivalent investigation training is advantageous.
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE) is desirable.
  • Leadership or management qualifications are advantageous.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence required.
  • Willingness to work in a remote FIFO environment.
  • Proactive attitude with a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
