This opportunity offers the chance to provide technical engineering support for electrical and instrumentation systems within a chemical plant environment. The role is focused on reliability, regulatory compliance, process safety management, and lifecycle support across instrumentation, electrical distribution, control systems, and safety instrumented systems. This position plays a key part in maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant operations while supporting turnaround activities, root cause failure analysis, and management of change.
Required Education:
BS in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited university
Required Experience:
3+ years of relevant instrumentation and electrical engineering experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or refining environment
Demonstrated technical ownership of plant systems
Experience supporting highly hazardous chemical environments and process safety management activities
Experience contributing to turnaround planning, field engineering oversight, commissioning, and pre-startup safety reviews
Experience with root cause failure analysis, corrective action tracking, and engineering problem-solving
Required Skills:
Strong understanding of instrumentation principles including measurement, control loops, PID tuning, flow, pressure, temperature, level instruments, and valve sizing
Knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, transformers, motor controls, MCCs, VFDs, UPS systems, battery systems, and grounding systems
Working knowledge of DCS platforms and/or PLC-based control systems
Ability to review, interpret, and maintain loop diagrams, P&IDs, electrical one-line diagrams, datasheets, specifications, and engineering documentation
Experience supporting safety instrumented systems, functional testing, and validation activities in accordance with IEC 61511
Ability to develop preventive maintenance strategies, lifecycle plans, and equipment obsolescence plans for critical plant assets
Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, hazardous area classification requirements, and ISA standards relevant to chemical plant environments
Experience with SAP PM, calibration management systems, and engineering document control
Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, reliability, and process safety teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) registration
ISA CCST or equivalent instrument certification
PSM / OSHA 1910.119 experience in a highly hazardous chemical environment
