Our client is seeking an I&C Engineer to work within their facilities located in Mineral, VA for an initial 3+ years assignment.

This opportunity supports major projects within the nuclear power generation sector, focused on plant design modifications, electrical distribution systems and instrumentation and control systems. The role offers involvement in technically complex engineering change work, vendor coordination, testing support and field implementation across critical station projects. This position is well suited to candidates with strong nuclear design engineering experience and a background in electrical, computer or I&C engineering.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of design changes in accordance with applicable station and industry guidance.
  • Coordinate technical reviews and support from internal and external stakeholders and engineering disciplines to ensure quality design changes and project deliverables.
  • Provide input into drawing updates in support of design development.
  • Review vendor drawings, testing documentation, test plans, reports, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Provide design-based document reviews and revisions as required.
  • Provide field implementation support.
  • Monitor project schedule and provide input/updates to the project manager for deliverables and milestones.
  • Oversee design engineering tasks performed by contracted external resources.
  • Support other electrical / I&C projects as needed during design development and implementation.

Required Skills:

  • Competency in applying engineering principles, practices, procedures and standards to solve complex problems and achieve project objectives.
  • Experience with relay logic, power systems, electrical schematics, circuit design, load calculations and analysis.
  • Ability to interpret and apply codes, regulations and specifications to design change development and implementation.
  • Planning, organizational and project management capability with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, collaborate and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, while also working independently.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or comparable degree that meets ANSI requirements.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Background in Electrical, Computer or Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
  • Specification, technical and engineering writing experience.
