Industrial Coating, PFP & Cryogenic Protection Supervisor

Location: Afungi Site, Mozambique

Contract: 12 months (contract)

Join our dynamic team as an Industrial Coating, PFP & Cryogenic Protection Supervisor on a major LNG project in Mozambique! This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in industrial coatings and fire protection systems while ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance in a fast-paced construction environment.

Role Overview

  • Supervise surface preparation and coating application across structures, pipe racks, tanks, equipment skids, buildings, foundations, and buried elements.
  • Verify conformance to approved Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), procedures, and datasheets in line with ISO, NACE/AMPP, and SSPC standards.
  • Control environmental conditions, dry film thickness (DFT) measurement, curing profiles, holiday testing, and adhesion verification.
  • Oversee intumescent and cementitious Passive Fire Protection (PFP) application per fire design specifications; verify thickness, adhesion, and detailing.
  • Supervise cryogenic spill/splash protection systems for LNG zones rated to -162°C; verify interface with insulation and barriers.
  • Assure compliant storage, batch control, pot life, labeling, shelf life, and traceability for all coating/PFP/CSP products.
  • Execute and verify inspections (DFT, adhesion, holiday detection, PFP/CSP thickness) and raise/close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Review and endorse contractor ITPs, Work Method Statements (WMS), and Quality Control (QC) records; contribute to Mechanical Completion (MC) and Handover (HC) dossiers.
  • Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements for blasting, spraying, chemical handling, work at height, and confined spaces.
  • Provide daily/weekly activity reporting and contribute to final handover documentation.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Coating expertise: Proficient in industrial liquid painting, coating application, and surface protection.
  • Knowledge of Passive Fire Protection (PFP) systems: Experience with intumescent and cementitious applications.
  • Cryogenic protection proficiency: Familiarity with Cryogenic Splash Protection (CSP) systems rated to -162°C.
  • Surface preparation standards: Understanding of ISO 8501/8503, NACE/SSPC surface cleanliness specifications.
  • Coating inspection techniques: Competence in DFT measurement, holiday detection, adhesion testing, and environmental condition monitoring.
  • Material management: Experience with batch traceability, pot life control, compliant storage, and labeling.
  • Quality documentation review: Ability to assess contractor quality documentation including ITPs and QC records.
  • HSE compliance: Strong understanding of safety protocols for coating activities.

Education & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in industrial coating, PFP, and CSP on major LNG or Oil & Gas projects.
  • Certification: NACE/AMPP Level 2 or 3 or FROSIO Level II or Level III — mandatory.
  • Language skills: Fluent in English (written and verbal); knowledge of Portuguese, French, Italian, Chinese, or Korean is desirable.
