Instructional Designer
– Houston, TX
Our client is seeking an Instructional Designer to work within their facilities located in Houston, TX, for an initial 6-month assignment, with possibility to extend.
The Instructional Designer is responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training and performance improvement initiatives under the general direction of management. This includes the creation of online learning modules, live web-based training sessions, instructor-led training guides, learning job-aids, and supporting materials following an instructional design process. The Instructional Designer will use strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video, and audio to communicate and train our employees, customers, and other stakeholders. Cornerstone LMS knowledge is ideal for day-to-day operations.
Knowledge
The Instructional Designer must possess in-depth knowledge of eLearning software and systems used to develop learning materials. Also possess proficient knowledge of Articulate 360 and possess editing skills using Camtasia and Vyond. Proficient knowledge of MS applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are required as well.
Job Responsibilities:
- Partner and collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to analyze learning and performance needs, recommend effective learning solutions, and/or design engaging curricula and training programs that support business objectives
- Leverage instructional strategies and tools to create and enhance training materials, including storyboards, course content, job aids, assessments, and learner resources, to deliver engaging and effective learning experiences
- Review, evaluate, and refine learning solutions based on stakeholder feedback, learner performance data, and business requirements to drive continuous improvement
- Maintain corporate training matrices
- Support basic Cornerstone LMS administration, including course upload and management, content validation, learner assignments, attendance tracking, and reporting
Required Skills:
- Strong instructional design skills, including learning needs analysis, curriculum development, and application of adult learning principles
- Working knowledge of Cornerstone OnDemand (or similar LMS) with the ability to manage course administration, learner assignments, content validation, attendance tracking, and reporting
- Attention to detail and ability to cope with several tasks simultaneously, and remain detail oriented
- Strong initiative and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent skills with on-line learning products and technologies
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Training, Education, Science, Engineering, Business related or relevant technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in development and/or delivery of technical training programs
- Experience in eLearning software (Storyline, Camtasia, Vyond, etc.) is essential.
- Experience in corporate compliance training is preferred.
