Job Title: Instrument and Electrical Technician III - Automation
Duration: 12+ months
Schedule: 5/2 schedule
Location: Carlsbad, NM

This opportunity supports oil and gas operations in Southeast New Mexico, focused on automation, instrumentation, electrical systems and controls across processing and gas compression facilities. The role offers hands-on technical scope involving PLCs, SCADA systems, communications equipment and field maintenance activities, while contributing to safe and reliable operations. This position will suit candidates who can work effectively in a team environment, operate with minimal supervision and support critical site performance.

Required Experience:

  • Experience maintaining electrical systems, instrumentation and controls in oil and gas processing facilities.
  • Strong experience working within gas compression facilities.
  • Experience maintaining and installing automation and I&E equipment, including PLC components, wired and wireless transmitters, communications equipment and HMIs.
  • Understanding of oil and gas production equipment and operations.
  • Ability to support operational duties as required within a field-based environment.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to install, troubleshoot and repair PLCs, Allen Bradley systems, Fisher ROCs and Emerson Rosemount devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits and associated components.
  • Knowledge of communications equipment including Freewave, XetaWave, RedLion, ABB, Cambium and fiberoptic systems.
  • Ability to use SCADA systems to monitor operations.
  • Strong safety awareness, including the ability to perform Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures on required equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, take direction from experienced personnel and work with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work late when needed and participate in call-out rotation after training, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work in extreme outdoor temperatures.

Required Certifications:

  • Certification to work at heights using appropriate fall protection (Required).
