Instrument & Control Engineer (Qatar)
Job Purpose
- Provide Instrument & Control Systems engineering technical support to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of offshore equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Contribute to departmental objectives while aligning with overall company strategy.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Provide Instrument & Control engineering support to offshore operations and maintenance, including RBWS activities, day-to-day troubleshooting, Level 2 technical issues, and preventive/corrective maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance strategies.
- Contribute to engineering management of change (eMOC) processes by supporting studies, feasibility assessments, and implementation of approved recommendations to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
- Participate in the development of equipment strategies, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Risk Screening, Formal Risk Assessments (FRA), and Bad Actor studies to ensure compliance with technical and operational requirements.
- Collaborate closely with offshore maintenance, workshops, engineering, and project management teams to ensure timely closure of maintenance activities and continuous improvement of maintenance procedures.
- Perform technical evaluations of materials required for procurement, including routine, non-routine, and shutdown activities, ensuring the availability of suitable materials that meet quality and technical specifications.
- Participate in demand planning for contracted activities and contribute to defining scopes of work for complex Instrument & Control maintenance contracts, including post-award activities in accordance with business procedures.
- Review and monitor the obsolescence status of instrumentation equipment and spare parts to support operational continuity and minimize business risk.
- Understand and implement all required procedures for Instrument & Control engineering maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with applicable maintenance standards and requirements.
- Participate in maintenance quality verification programs to support procedural compliance and the safe operation of systems and equipment.
- Utilize relevant maintenance and management control systems effectively to ensure compliance with business processes and reporting requirements.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science with a major in Instrumentation, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in an Instrumentation & Control Systems environment within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar process industry sector, in an engineering role.
- Computer literate and proficient in a variety of engineering software applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Working knowledge of SAP Maintenance and Material Management systems (SAP MM).
- Experience in preparing and reviewing scopes of work for maintenance activities and external service requirements.
