Job Title: Instrumentation and Controls Engineer I
Duration: 1 year – possible extension
Schedule: 5/40
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Onsite)

This opportunity is based within a refinery and chemical complex environment, supporting operations and small projects across a Baton Rouge pipeline location and surrounding area. The role focuses on instrumentation and controls engineering with PLC programming, HMI upgrades, troubleshooting, and field-based coordination. This position offers the chance to contribute to discipline engineering activities that support safety, compliance, and efficient project execution.

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in instrumentation and controls and electrical engineering activities.
  • Experience working with field equipment, reading drawings, troubleshooting, and supporting operations or small projects.
  • Experience coordinating and communicating with field personnel, electrical technicians, operations teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Experience reviewing engineering work to support compliance with project specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work in a field-based environment with up to 50% travel within approximately one hour of the work location and availability after hours as needed.

Required Skills:

  • PLC programming capability.
  • Familiarity with HMI systems, including upgrades, valve updates, logic updates, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to review drawings and technical documents.
  • Project management capability and the ability to manage changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent English for technical and business communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Electrical Engineering degree.
  • Allen-Bradley experience.
  • Knowledge of RSLogix, Factory Talk, and ladder logic.
  • Familiarity with GE Multiline relays and Flow-X/OMNI flow computers.
