This opportunity sits within a refinery and chemical complex environment, supporting operations and small projects with a focus on instrumentation and controls engineering. The role involves PLC programming, HMI upgrades, troubleshooting, and coordination across engineering, field, and operations teams. This position offers exposure to technical project delivery, design review, and field-based problem solving in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering specialty, or equivalent professional experience
Required Experience:
At least 2 years of relevant experience in instrumentation, controls, electrical engineering, or related industrial engineering work
Experience supporting operations and small projects in an engineering environment
Experience interfacing and communicating effectively with field teams, electrical technicians, operations, and engineering personnel
Experience reviewing engineering drawings and technical documents
Required Skills:
PLC programming capability
Ability to perform HMI upgrades, valve and logic updates, and troubleshooting
Proficiency with reading drawings, project management, and field equipment support
Familiarity with PLC and HMI systems, including RSLogix, Factory Talk, and ladder logic
Broad knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
Ability to evaluate engineering work to ensure alignment with technical specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements
Strong coordination and communication skills across engineering and contractor teams
Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and changing priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
Fluent English communication skills for technical and business contexts
Preferred Qualifications:
Electrical Engineering degree preferred
Allen-Bradley experience preferred
Experience with GE Multiline relays and Flow-X/OMNI flow computers
