This opportunity supports engineering facilities in an upstream oil and gas production environment, with a focus on field walks, instrumentation and control drawing markups, MOC routing, and broader IC&E engineering support. The role offers involvement across brownfield upgrades, greenfield projects, shutdown support, and day-to-day operations, with responsibility for improving safety, reliability, and performance of instrumentation, electrical, SCADA, DCS, and PLC systems.

Required Education:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related engineering specialty, or equivalent professional experience

Required Experience:

  • Demonstrated work experience in upstream oil and gas production support

  • Experience supporting facilities engineering teams with field-based engineering activities and operational support

  • Experience preparing and reviewing IC&E engineering deliverables, including one-line diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, control narratives, wiring diagrams, installation details, instrument index, and cable schedules

  • Experience supporting brownfield upgrades, greenfield projects, shutdown engineering, and management of change activities

  • Experience participating in risk assessments, HAZOPs, hazard hunts, critical operating parameter reviews, and incident investigations

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation, medium/low voltage electrical equipment, and control systems within onshore facilities

  • Ability to read and review P&IDs and electrical drawings, including one-line diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, and instrument loop wiring diagrams

  • Project management capability and the ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and changing priorities

  • Experience retrofitting and upgrading PLCs, DCS, fire and gas systems, and other protective systems

  • Selection and application of pressure, flow, and level measurement systems

  • Troubleshooting instrument loops, controls, tuning issues, electrical equipment, and power distribution problems

  • Knowledge of low voltage and medium voltage motor control systems, including contactors, smart overloads, soft starts, VFDs, and control methods and communication pathways

  • Selection and specification of LV/MV transformers, switchgear, protective relays, motor control centres, variable speed drives, motors, and power cables

  • Familiarity with networking and field communications, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, RS-485, RS-232, MQTT, radio, fibre optic communications, and managed network switches

  • Power system and generation equipment maintenance and troubleshooting capability

  • Familiarity with protective relay setting, testing, and coordination

  • Application of instruments and electrical equipment in hazardous locations

  • Experience with analytics and visualisation software such as Ignition, SEEQ, and Spotfire, including dashboard development for operations support and troubleshooting

  • SCADA, DCS, and PLC implementation and support

  • Strong knowledge of equipment maintenance and maintenance programmes

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software

  • Fluent English communication skills for technical and business communication

Required Certifications:

  • Working knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria including ISA, National Electrical Code, ISA84, API RP 551, NETA MTS, and NFPA 70E
