This opportunity supports facilities engineering activities within an upstream oil and gas environment, with a focus on field walks, instrumentation and control drawing markups, Management of Change routing, and operational engineering support. The role contributes to the safe and efficient performance of instrumentation, medium and low voltage electrical equipment, control systems, SCADA, DCS, and PLC applications. This position offers broad involvement across brownfield upgrades, greenfield projects, shutdown support, troubleshooting, and engineering deliverables review.
Required Education:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Required Experience:
Demonstrated work experience supporting upstream oil and gas production operations.
Experience providing engineering support for facilities, including field walks, operational changes, repairs, alterations, and shutdown activities.
Experience supporting brownfield upgrade and greenfield project activities.
Experience reviewing and preparing engineering deliverables such as one-line diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, control narratives, wiring diagrams, installation details, instrument index documents, and cable schedules.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including facilities engineering, machinery engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel.
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of instrumentation, medium and low voltage electrical equipment, and control systems surveillance, analysis, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Ability to read and review P&IDs, electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, and instrument loop wiring diagrams.
Project management capability within engineering and operations support environments.
Knowledge of retrofitting and upgrading PLCs, DCS, fire and gas systems, and other protective systems.
Selection and application of pressure, flow, and level measurement systems.
Ability to troubleshoot instrument loops, control systems, and tuning issues.
Knowledge of low voltage and medium voltage motor control systems, including contactors, smart overloads, soft starts, VFDs, and communication pathways.
Experience specifying LV/MV transformers, switchgear, protective relays, motor control centres, variable speed drives, motors, and power cables.
Familiarity with networking and field communications including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, RS-485, RS-232, MQTT, radio, fibre optic communications, and managed network switches.
Knowledge of power systems and generation equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with protective relay setting, testing, and coordination.
Application of instrumentation and electrical equipment in hazardous locations.
Experience troubleshooting electrical equipment and power distribution issues.
Familiarity with analytics and visualisation software such as Ignition, SEEQ, and Spotfire, including dashboard development for operations troubleshooting and support.
Experience with SCADA, DCS, and PLC implementation and support.
Strong knowledge of applicable design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria, including ISA, National Electrical Code, ISA84, API RP 551, NETA MTS, and NFPA 70E.
Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and changing priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken, for technical and business communication.
