Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands
Contract: 12 months' renewable contract
Rotation / Set up: Monday to Friday 
Expected starting date: 20/07

Join our dynamic team as an Instrumentation Engineer and play a pivotal role in the design and implementation of cutting-edge Process Control and Instrumentation Systems for a leading player in the Offshore Oil & Gas industry. This is an exciting opportunity to work in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where your expertise will contribute to high-quality projects that prioritize safety and efficiency.

Role Overview

  • Continuously consider cost, constructability, operability, and maintainability.
  • Assist in developing project-specific system designs with all associated documentation (philosophies, layouts, specifications, datasheets, block diagrams, Cause & Effect diagrams, etc.).
  • Act as package engineer for instrument packages and collaborate closely with Supply Chain to perform technical bid evaluations.
  • Manage the flow of information to remote teams to enable preparation of Specifications, Bid reviews, Layouts, Cable Block diagrams, Termination diagrams, Loop diagrams, Hook-up diagrams, Mounting details, Cable list, Junction box list, Bulk MTOs for Cables, Cable glands, and Hook-up materials.
  • Review vendor data and ensure package units are properly integrated and/or interfaced.
  • Ensure that interfaces with other disciplines (mainly electrical, piping, and process) are consistent and aligned.
  • Review documents prepared by sub-contractors to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Ensure that the system complies with the Regulatory regime, Classification requirements, company standards, and client requirements.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Instrumentation design expertise in the Offshore Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proficiency in SmartPlant Instrumentation.
  • Experience with package interfaces.
  • Ability to manage remote teams effectively.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation for LNG applications and Marine applications is an advantage.
  • Competence in instrumentation design in hazardous areas (e.g., IECEx001) is preferable.

Education & Experience

  • University or Technical College (BSc degree) in a relevant field.
  • Several years of experience in Instrumentation design within the Offshore Oil & Gas industry.
