Our client, a major Oil and Gas client, is looking for an Instrumentation Engineer to join their team on a 6-month contract (possible to extend) in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop instrumentation and controls engineering scopes for plant modifications, brownfield projects, capital projects, and MOC initiatives.
  • Perform field assessments, site investigations, and engineering evaluations to define project requirements and develop practical, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
  • Develop engineering design packages from initial scoping documentation through Issued for Review (IFR), Issued for Design (IFD), and Issued for Construction (IFC) stages.
  • Prepare Engineering Work Packages (EWPs), including technical scope documents, design deliverables, material requisitions, construction work packages, cost estimates, and execution plans.
  • Develop and review instrumentation and controls engineering deliverables, including:
  • Instrument datasheets
  • Instrument indexes
  • Loop diagrams
  • Hook-up drawings
  • Instrument location drawings
  • Cable schedules
  • Junction box schedules
  • Control narratives
  • Cause and Effect matrices
  • SIS and ESD design documentation
  • Commissioning and startup documentation
  • Review and provide technical oversight of engineering deliverables prepared by external EPC contractors, consultants, system integrators, and vendors.
  • Perform instrumentation engineering calculations and evaluations, including instrument selection, control valve sizing, measurement system reviews, loop design, and control system modifications.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with site standards, project requirements, applicable codes, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, constructability reviews, field walkdowns, hazard assessments, and multidisciplinary project reviews.
  • Support procurement activities through technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews, package reviews, FAT participation, and technical query resolution.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction, commissioning, startup, shutdown, turnaround, and maintenance activities.
  • Support control system integration, loop testing, commissioning activities, and plant startup efforts.
  • Interface with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Construction, Project Management, and external engineering providers to support safe and successful project execution.

Requirements:

  • Years of Experience: 10 to 15 - Mid to Senior level
  • Certifications/Education: P.Eng
