Job Title: Insulation, Coating & PFP QA/QC Lead

Location: Mozambique LNG Onshore Project, Mozambique

This opportunity supports a world-scale LNG development project currently in the construction phase, comprising liquefaction trains, LNG and condensate storage facilities, marine export infrastructure, utilities, and associated site facilities. The role focuses on quality assurance and quality control activities related to protective coatings, thermal insulation, and passive fire protection (PFP), ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and contractor quality requirements. This position offers significant technical responsibility for professionals with extensive experience in QA/QC leadership within major oil and gas or LNG construction projects.
 
Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Corrosion Engineering or related discipline)
  • Post-qualification specialization in QA/QC, Inspection, Corrosion, Coatings, or Passive Fire Protection preferred
  • Formal training in Quality Management Systems is advantageous 
  • Required Experience:
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in coating, insulation and/or passive fire protection QA/QC within oil & gas, LNG, or large industrial projects
  • Minimum 8 years in supervisory or lead QA/QC roles
  • Experience overseeing contractor and subcontractor quality activities on major EPC projects
  • Strong background in cryogenic insulation systems, coating inspection, and passive fire protection applications
  • Experience managing quality interfaces between welding, mechanical, commissioning, and construction teams
  • Proven involvement in NCR management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and contractor quality system oversight 


Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of coating inspection, thermal insulation installation, and passive fire protection systems
  • Experience reviewing and approving Quality Plans, ITPs, installation procedures, and applicator qualification programs
  • In-depth understanding of industry standards including NACE/AMPP, ISO 12944, ISO 8501/8502, ISO 19840, SSPC, ASTM, and UL 1709
  • Expertise in cryogenic insulation systems including PIR/PUR, cellular glass, and perlite applications
  • Knowledge of PFP systems such as epoxy intumescent and cementitious fireproofing materials
  • Capability to supervise coating inspections including surface preparation, environmental monitoring, DFT/WFT measurements, adhesion testing, and holiday testing
  • Experience with CUI (Corrosion Under Insulation) prevention and external stress corrosion cracking mitigation programs
  • Strong interface management and multidisciplinary coordination skills
  • Ability to lead technical investigations, NCR resolution, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Experience with quality reporting, KPI monitoring, digital inspection systems, and final dossier handover
  • Strong HSE leadership, including chemical safety and construction site risk management
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills 

Required Certifications:

  • NACE/AMPP CIP Level 2 or Level 3 certification, or BGAS-CSWIP Level 2/3 Painting Inspection certification (mandatory) 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ICorr Insulation Inspector certification
  • Manufacturer-specific PFP training (Chartek, Pitt-Char, Cafco, Nullifire or equivalent)
  • NACE CUI or Cathodic Protection qualifications
  • Portuguese or French language skills
  • Previous experience on IOC projects
  • Experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa environments
