Business Development Director – Onshore Wind (Korea)

Position Overview

We are supporting a renewable energy developer in the search for an experienced onshore wind development professional to lead project development activities in Korea. This role will oversee the full project lifecycle, from site identification and origination through permitting and key development approvals, while managing stakeholder engagement and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of onshore wind projects across Korea
  • Identify and originate new project opportunities
  • Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and development planning
  • Manage permitting and regulatory approval processes through key development milestones
  • Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies
  • Build and maintain relationships with local communities, landowners, and other project stakeholders
  • Lead community consultation activities and address local concerns throughout the development process
  • Manage relationships with local governments, regulatory authorities, and relevant agencies
  • Coordinate internal teams and external consultants to ensure project progress
  • Provide overall project leadership and drive successful development outcomes

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or project development
  • Demonstrated experience in onshore wind project development within Korea
  • Proven track record of advancing at least one onshore wind project through a major permitting or development approval stage
  • Strong hands-on experience in permitting, stakeholder engagement, community relations, and government affairs
  • Deep understanding of the Korean regulatory and permitting environment
  • Excellent project management, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive projects forward in complex environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for established renewable energy developers, IPPs, utilities, or infrastructure developers
  • Track record of successfully developing multiple onshore wind projects
  • Strong network across government agencies, local authorities, consultants, and industry stakeholders
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and external partners
