Position Overview
This opportunity is suited to a technically strong land professional with experience across surface and subsurface rights, contract stewardship, and title-related analysis. The role offers the chance to support high-value asset activity by helping protect value, mitigate risk, and advise on commercial land matters across the asset life cycle. This position will suit a candidate who can operate confidently across ownership review, agreement analysis, and stakeholder engagement in a complex upstream environment. Role Context
This role is within the energy sector and is focused on company-owned mineral and royalty interests. The work includes review of producing wells, ownership by depth, and the status of agreements tied to held-by-production considerations. The position supports asset-related land activity with a strong emphasis on technical title review, production history research, and commercial land analysis. Land Advisor / Representative III candidates with Permian Basin exposure will be particularly well aligned to this Land Advisor / Representative III position.
Key Responsibilities
Acquire, obtain access to, lease, steward, monetize, and/or divest surface and subsurface rights to help deliver value and mitigate risk.
Develop, negotiate, and execute commercial agreements such as leases and rights-of-way.
Analyse, manage, and steward contracts including acreage, compliance, and risk-related matters.
Review ownership and status of company-owned interests by depth, including minerals, royalties, and overrides.
Research production history, producing formations, and held-by status of relevant agreements.
Coordinate land ownership review, evaluate risks, and support the curing of title defects.
Negotiate and manage claim or dispute mitigation and resolution matters.
Support business strategy execution through commercial analysis and recommendations on acquisition and monetization opportunities.
Manage external relationships relevant to the portfolio, including landowners, service providers, partners, and government stakeholders.
Provide litigation support and coordinate contract land personnel where required.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Knowledge and experience with title, courthouse research, alignment sheets, easement documentation, and acquisition documents.
Essential:
Strong capability in commercial negotiation, influencing, and internal and external relationship management.
Essential:
Experience reviewing producing wells, ownership interests, and production history with attention to agreement status and related land considerations.
Essential:
Ability to assess land ownership, identify risk, and support title defect resolution.
Desirable:
Permian Basin experience.
