Lead Corrosion Engineer

About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Corrosion Engineer to join a major PMC (Project Management Consultancy) team supporting a large-scale Gas Processing project. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for corrosion engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle and work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, EPC contractors, and the end client.
This position will be based full-time in Madrid, Spain and offers the opportunity to contribute to a significant international energy project.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all corrosion engineering activities within the PMC team.
- Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables related to corrosion and materials engineering.
- Provide technical input on material selection, corrosion control, and integrity management strategies.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, international codes, and client standards.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, technical workshops, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
- Support asset integrity, corrosion monitoring, inspection, and risk-based assessment activities.
- Review corrosion studies, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor documentation.
- Interface with the client, licensors, EPC contractors, and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure engineering activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant Oil & Gas experience.
- Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Corrosion Engineer on major energy projects.
- Strong experience within PMC environments.
- Extensive EPC project experience.
- Demonstrated experience on Gas Processing, LNG, Petrochemical, Refining, or similar facilities.
- In-depth understanding of corrosion mechanisms, materials selection, corrosion mitigation, and asset integrity management.
Essential Experience
Candidates must demonstrate:
- PMC Project Experience.
- Familiarity with ARAMCO Engineering Standards and Specifications.
- Experience supporting Middle East projects.
- EPC experience within Gas Processing facilities.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience on Saudi Aramco projects.
- Previous assignments within the Middle East region.
- NACE, AMPP, or equivalent corrosion certifications.

Project Details
- Initial contract duration: 12 months.
- Potential extension up to 21 months.
- Full-time office-based position in Madrid.
