Legal Counsel (Renewable Energy Business) | Based in the Philippines
Position Overview
Our client, a leading renewable energy developer with operations across Asia, is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its business activities in the Philippines.
This role goes beyond traditional contract review and legal support. As a member of the legal team, you will work closely with business development, finance, and engineering teams to drive project execution and contribute to strategic business decisions. It is a commercially focused legal position with direct involvement in project development and investment activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for renewable energy and energy storage projects
- Handle a wide range of agreements, including:
- Shareholders’ Agreements
- Land Use Agreements
- EPC Contracts
- O&M Contracts
- Project Finance-related Agreements
- Conduct legal and risk analysis for business plans and investment opportunities
- Support dispute resolution and manage legal issues arising from project activities
- Provide corporate legal support for the Philippine entity and affiliated group companies
- Prepare reports and recommendations for management and support key decision-making processes
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 5+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
- Ability to independently identify legal risks and develop practical solutions
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to support business growth and project execution from a legal and commercial perspective
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualified Attorney / Lawyer
- Experience with project finance transactions
- Legal experience in infrastructure, power, or energy sectors
- Experience negotiating contracts in English

- Occasional domestic and international travel required
