Lifting Superintendent (Onshore)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lifting Superintendent (Onshore) to support Major Projects by ensuring the safe, compliant, and effective execution of all lifting operations across project sites. The role serves as a key technical focal point for lifting activities, providing assurance, governance, and leadership across lifting equipment, personnel, procedures, and safety programs.
Job Purpose
The Lifting Superintendent is responsible for:
- Reviewing and assuring Project critical lifting scope.
- Implementing assurance programs of lifting safety within the Project, in compliance with company standards.
- Providing feedback on areas of concern.
- Assisting in implementing Project rigging and lifting equipment integrity assurance program.
- Implementing effective site observation and intervention programs ensuring safe and effective execution of the Project lifting scope.
Job Context & Major Challenges
The position operates within a complex project environment and is responsible for:
- Implementation of the Project lifting program.
- Implementation of audits and observation and intervention programs.
- Facilitation and support of resolution-oriented communication among lifting operations stakeholders including contractors, third parties, and certification authorities.
- Demonstrating a strong commitment to Safety Leadership supported by extensive knowledge of safety protocols and best practices associated with Lifting Operations (Onshore).
Key Job Accountabilities – Not limited to below:
Lifting Discipline Focal Point
- Act as the focal point on the Lifting discipline for the MP/NFPS Projects and serve as the MP Projects main focal point for the Operations Department on all lifting-related matters, including lifting equipment, personnel, and procedures executed in brownfield environments.
Assurance Process Management
- Consolidate and manage a resilient assurance process for MP/NFPS Projects execution in compliance with the MP Lifting Code of Practice (onshore/offshore).
Code of Practice Stewardship
- Maintain and update the MP Lifting Code of Practice for MP/NFPS Projects and interface with relevant internal and external stakeholders for optimization and harmonization of lifting requirements.
Resource Selection & Recruitment Support
- Support PMTs on lifting resource allocation, selection, and recruitment activities, and formally endorse the recruitment of lifting resources within MP/NFPS Projects (onshore).
Risk Assessment Support
- Support PMTs on Risk Screening and Formal Risk Assessment associated with critical lifting operations covering both greenfield and brownfield scopes.
Lessons Learned & Best Practices
- Introduce and manage effective communication protocols to share relevant lessons learned and best practices to ensure consistent implementation across MP/NFPS Project Teams within the lifting discipline.
Onboarding Standardization
- Consolidate and standardize onboarding protocols for MP/NFPS Project lifting resources with a focus on compliance, consistency, and efficiency.
Reporting, Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain a robust reporting system for lifting operations across MP/NFPS Projects, identifying trends and vulnerabilities while proposing and implementing mitigations and improvements throughout the organization.
Technical Issue Resolution
- Conduct risk-based evaluations of complex technical issues that may significantly impact project execution and manage the timely delivery of technical deliverables and issue resolutions.
Safety Leadership & Industry Best Practice
- Promote Lifting Safety Leadership by supporting Safety Culture and implementing best industry practices and initiatives, including extensive use of Life Saving Rules, while maintaining a learning environment that transforms lifting safety visions into improvement plans.
MUST HAVE - Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
Mandatory Certification
- OPITO – LOLER Competent Person.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements: The successful candidate MUST possess:
- 10 years of experience in the Lifting discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in managing lifting equipment and lifting operations compliance scopes (onshore).
- Experience in lifting equipment and appliances inspections, certifications, and verifications.
Knowledge of International Standards including:
- ASME
- BS ISO
- LOLER
- Knowledge of (QatarEnergy) Operating Standards and Procedures is advantageous.
- Experience establishing and managing compliance and assurance processes in accordance with corporate requirements and international standards within the lifting discipline.
- Experience as a Lifting SME within Oil & Gas Operator organizations is preferable.
