Summary:
This opportunity is focused on strategic procurement and category management across logistics-related spend, supporting complex business and project requirements in a technical, commercially driven environment. The role will contribute across sourcing strategy, supplier performance, contracting, freight forwarding, transportation, warehousing, customs brokerage, and third-party logistics activities. Based in Houston, this position offers the chance to influence logistics strategy, improve supplier outcomes, and support operational and project delivery through data-driven commercial decision-making.
Required Education:
High school diploma
Required Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, category management, logistics, freight forwarding, project logistics, transportation, or supply chain
Experience managing logistics categories and suppliers across areas such as freight forwarding, road transportation, heavy haul, customs brokerage, warehousing, materials management, and third-party logistics services
Experience supporting sourcing activity including bid preparation, supplier evaluation, negotiation strategy, commercial analysis, award recommendation, and implementation planning
Experience developing category plans aligned with business priorities, project requirements, market conditions, and stakeholder needs
Experience supporting capital projects, business units, or operations teams with freight strategies, project logistics planning, import and export requirements, transportation routes, port movements, heavy haul, and delivery planning
Experience overseeing supplier performance through KPIs, scorecards, governance routines, corrective actions, rate compliance, surcharge management, issue resolution, and continuous improvement
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing, contracting, supplier management, negotiation, and procurement governance
Ability to conduct supply market analysis, market intelligence, benchmarking, cost modelling, total cost of ownership analysis, and commercial evaluation
Working knowledge of shipment planning, customs requirements, import and export processes, Incoterms, transportation risk, and supplier performance metrics
Strong commercial, financial, and analytical capability, including evaluation of supplier proposals, rate structures, surcharges, cost drivers, and savings opportunities
Strong project management, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, influencing, and presentation skills
Ability to work collaboratively, operate with autonomy, and drive sourcing, compliance, contracting, and operational improvement initiatives to completion
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business, engineering, commerce, or a related field
8 to 10 years of relevant experience
Experience with marine transportation, heavy haul, warehousing, customs brokerage, third-party logistics, or materials management
Experience with procurement systems, e-procurement tools, SAP, data analytics, or reporting platforms
Experience in construction or heavy machinery environments
