Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Machinery Engineer Specialist III to provide technical expertise and engineering support for rotating and mechanical equipment within the Singapore Manufacturing Complex (Refinery and Petrochemical Operations). The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations through engineering assessments, troubleshooting, equipment improvement initiatives, and maintenance support.

This position requires a strong background in refinery or petrochemical operations, sound mechanical engineering knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Demonstrate and promote compliance with all site Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) requirements.
  • Lead by example in reinforcing a strong safety culture across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, business controls, and regulatory requirements.

Engineering Support

  • Provide daily field engineering support for rotating and machinery equipment.
  • Conduct engineering assessments, troubleshooting, and root cause failure analyses.
  • Develop and implement sustainable solutions for equipment reliability and performance issues.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate recurring equipment reliability concerns ("bad actors").
  • Ensure timely closure of engineering action items and deliverables.

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Support major shutdowns, turnarounds (T/A), and significant equipment maintenance activities.
  • Provide field support during plant start-ups, shutdowns, operational upsets, and major inspections.
  • Review equipment performance, including thermodynamic and mechanical assessments.
  • Lead long-term reliability improvement initiatives.

Technical Leadership

  • Act as the key technical focal point for machinery and rotating equipment.
  • Review engineering designs and provide quality control for projects involving rotating equipment.
  • Evaluate engineering work performed by internal teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, specifications, codes, and safety requirements.
  • Deliver technical training and mentoring to operations and mechanical personnel.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Project Teams, and Technical Networks.
  • Facilitate effective communication regarding engineering activities, progress updates, and technical issues.
  • Participate in business team (PMTE) and network activities as required.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the Refinery, Petrochemical, or related Process Industry.
  • Hands-on experience with rotating equipment and machinery systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, reliability engineering, equipment performance evaluation, and maintenance support.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of machinery fundamentals and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment design, operation, reliability, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with engineering standards, specifications, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage changing priorities, and handle demanding workloads.
  • Strong facilitation, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
