Materials & Logistics Officer
12-Month Casual Contract | Perth CBD
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Materials & Logistics Officer to join a major decarbonisation project team based in the Perth CBD. Supporting the Project Manager - Procurement, you will play a critical role in ensuring materials, equipment, and services are procured, tracked, and delivered safely and efficiently to project sites.
This position is responsible for coordinating procurement activities, managing supplier relationships, overseeing logistics movements, and ensuring project materials are delivered in line with project schedules. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with project, engineering, contracts, and logistics teams while contributing to large-scale renewable energy and decarbonisation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) within SAP.
- Coordinate the end-to-end procurement process to support project delivery requirements.
- Track and monitor purchase orders, supplier commitments, and delivery schedules.
- Liaise with suppliers, freight providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Support sourcing activities including Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and Expressions of Interest (EOIs).
- Conduct market research and identify suitable suppliers and service providers.
- Coordinate international and domestic logistics activities, including freight forwarding, customs clearance, collection, and site delivery.
- Monitor supply chain performance and proactively resolve delivery issues.
- Collaborate with project teams to confirm specifications, quantities, and required delivery dates.
- Establish and monitor procurement performance metrics and reporting.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and logistics processes.
- Assist with vendor management and supplier performance monitoring.
- Ensure procurement and logistics activities comply with company policies and procedures.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Materials, Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Purchasing role.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, systems, and supply chain operations.
- Experience coordinating material deliveries and logistics activities for project-based environments.
- Proficiency in SAP and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong planning, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
- Experience engaging with suppliers, freight providers, and logistics contractors.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting major projects within mining, energy, renewable energy, infrastructure, or resources sectors.
- Exposure to freight forwarding, shipping, customs clearance, and import/export processes.
- Forklift Licence.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain, Contract Management, or a related discipline.
