Position Overview
This opportunity is for a Mechanical Engineer (piping & valves) to support a major carbon capture and storage infrastructure project in the Netherlands. The Mechanical Engineer (piping & valves) will provide technical oversight across piping and valve design for both onshore and offshore scope, contributing throughout the project lifecycle from tender into execution. This Mechanical Engineer (piping & valves) role offers the chance to work within a specialist engineering environment on high-profile energy transition projects with meaningful technical and environmental impact. The Mechanical Engineer (piping & valves) will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to help deliver safe, innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Role Context
This position sits within the carbon capture and storage sector, supporting the development of large-scale CO? transport infrastructure. The role is focused on the Aramis project, which is aimed at creating open-access transport links to offshore storage facilities. The Mechanical Engineer (piping & valves) will work within a Projects & Engineering team in a multidisciplinary project environment covering onshore facilities, trunklines, valves and related engineering packages. The role begins in the tender phase and continues into the execution phase following project approval.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight for the design, procurement, manufacturing and testing of piping systems and valves.
Ensure compliance with applicable piping and valve codes, standards and project specifications.
Review technical deviations and support technical risk assessments.
Respond to technical queries during the tender phase and support engineering decision-making.
Work closely with process, pipeline, corrosion and materials, structural and flow assurance disciplines.
Monitor interfaces across packages including valves, onshore facilities, trunklines and hub-related scope.
Support technical reviews including HAZID, HAZOP and 3D model reviews.
Coordinate with EPC and EPCI contractors as well as the independent verification body.
Contribute to project reporting and proactively identify technical risks.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline such as Mechanical Engineering.
Essential:
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
Essential:
At least 5 years of experience in offshore and/or onshore projects.
Essential:
Extensive experience in piping and valve design.
Essential:
Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards including NEN, ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.4.
Essential:
Knowledge of valve standards including API, IOGP and ASTM.
Essential:
Strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills.
Essential:
Excellent command of English, written and spoken.
Desirable:
Experience with subsea and topside systems.
Desirable:
Experience with TotalEnergies specifications (PVV).
Desirable:
Experience at construction and fabrication sites, particularly relating to HSSE and quality management.
Desirable:
Knowledge of the Dutch language.
