Airswift is recruiting a Mechanical (Rotating) Engineer to join the Operations & Maintenance team supporting on a major project in Tanzania. This position will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of critical rotating equipment across one of Africa's largest energy infrastructure developments.
The successful candidate will act as the technical focal point for rotating machinery, supporting maintenance strategy, equipment reliability, contractor management, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operational phase of the asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight and support for rotating equipment, including export pumps, loading pumps, diesel generators, emergency generators, and firewater pumps.
- Support operational readiness activities including procedure preparation, commissioning witness, and asset handover.
- Monitor equipment reliability, availability, and performance through maintenance strategies and condition monitoring programs.
- Lead and support major maintenance campaigns for rotating equipment.
- Perform root cause analysis and provide technical recommendations for equipment failures and performance issues.
- Manage and assess maintenance service contracts and contractor performance.
- Oversee spare parts strategies and stock optimization aligned with equipment criticality and operational objectives.
- Ensure accurate maintenance reporting and data management within CMMS systems.
- Develop KPIs, performance monitoring tools, and maintenance improvement initiatives.
- Support reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) methodologies and continuous improvement programs.
- Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance teams, contractors, and technical support functions.
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of HSSE compliance and operational excellence.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Master's degree or equivalent engineering qualification is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience with rotating machinery in oil & gas, energy, industrial, petrochemical, or related sectors.
- Strong expertise in pumps, generators, rotating equipment maintenance, and reliability engineering.
- Experience in vibration analysis and condition monitoring.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance and maintenance methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance planning.
- Experience managing maintenance contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.
- Experience supporting commissioning, operational readiness, or asset handover activities is desirable.
